Unfortunately, because Red Hat IS a USA-based company, they (and all us Americans) cannot make a distro available that is directly connected in ANY fashion to repositories containing patented technologies that do not have an license explicitly stating that there will be no repercussions for such aforementioned inclusion scenarios to be applied. This is why Fedora has such a bad rep (I am not saying it is a bad distro, I use it for everything!) with uninformed people (people making the choice of using Linux for the first time). Though I think CodecBuddy NEEDS support for reading through repositories to find codecs because there ARE Free codecs not in the Fedora DVD by default and should be able to be detected and installed.
