I have reproduced this in F-30, but the question is whether this is a
new thing with newer sources or did it always happen?


It is the first time I compile this software in ppc64, and probably the first time it has been. The problem is that I do not have access to a ppc machine to reproduce the issue. I'll try next week with qemu perhaps.
