Considering there are new CPUs being sold by Intel today that doesn't even have AVX2
(point in case: Pentium Gold G5620), this sounds to me like a move that is happening way
I would take the lowest denominator of features for CPUs of atleast 3 years of age
considering how long some CPUs are being used in virtualized environments and at a lot of
different cloud-providers (I've seen 5+ year old CPUs in at some smaller providers).
