Some random questions about this:
- How many existing packages are affected? Can this be analyzed and
the maintainers notified?
There is a list of packages at the change and also at the initial email
thread before this change was created, I mention all the failing packages
with their respective maintainers:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.o...
I plan to notify every affected packager if the change gets accepted.
Noting though, that during my testing of 9k+ packages from rawhide, many
failed to build due to different reasons, so more failures might appear
later on if their initial FTBFS issue is resolved.
- If I want to analyze my own packages to see if they contain
rpaths, is it sufficient to run this?
chrpath --list --keepgoing <binaries> <sofiles> | grep RUNPATH
I ran that on /usr/lib64 and found samba seems to use
RUNPATH=/usr/lib64/samba
On the "how to test" section there is an rpmlint command on how to test
your packages locally. Samba's use-case is fine as RUNPATH points to a
directory with private libraries.
