Generally slowly and patience showing that proposed fix would allow to "[both] the wolf be full, and the sheep safe (intact)"  :)
I'm 100% sure that necessary template solution for most of those those issues is relatively easy.
Yes, it may be not obvious now how to do it but I'm sure that it will be trivial.
No ruch .. as this fish is now exposed and close to the surface of the pond it is easier to catch it :)

I'm sure that as issue will be presented in the way similar to what I've done here some maintainer understanding that it is even some grain of risk here solving it even by hardcoding fixed paths could be accepted by some number of maintainers.
