Of course, a corollary of this is that you have to try and figure out
which bit of the batched update actually caused the bug you saw.
Or to be even more specific:
1. Batched update testing is more work.
2. Fixing bugs found in batched updates is more work.
Of the two I think we already end up doing #2, it's just a question of
