As far as I have figured, because dnotify sucks for directories.

dnotify can only watch directories ! Yeah if you want to watch
/tmp/mylog you get an event to process each time anything changes
in /tmp for example.
dnotify_sucks++
the counter is pretty high at that point... that far from being the
only issue.
