Frozen for Fedora 8 Test1

We have frozen for Fedora 8 Test 1.  A "freeze" tag exists, 'f8-test1'
that is a container for the packages that are destined to be in Test1
(and rawhide until test1 is fully composed and released to mirrors).
As per http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ReleaseEngineering/Overview ,
builds from devel/ will continue to be tagged with 'dist-f8' and will
be picked up by rawhide composes once the freeze is over.  If you feel
you must have your build in Test1 and it isn't already tagged with
'f8-test1', please follow

I guess that means yet another release with broken zsh when the fix
would be just updating the package to upstream, as upstream developers
recommend.

I mean OpenSuse and Ubuntu think zsh 4.3.x it's good enough for their
release, not to mention that even Debian includes 4.3 in their *stable*
release. Only the fedora maintainer sticks to 4.2 leaving everyone who
is using a UTF-8 locale with a broken shell.

This is just ridiculous.

No, because as Matthias pointed out in the the bug release below it is
not included in the default install. There's a chance that given the
comments made by the development team the maintainer will re-consider
upgrading to this release.

No, its a technical decision not to ship an unstable release. That
said, Fedora *is* supposed to be cutting edge stuff and if the only
argument against version bumping is upstream's versioning system
(since dismissed on their mailing list) I agree that its high time to
up the game a little. :)

cryptsetup-luks before F7 was built statically and beginning in Rawhide it is

/usr/lib/libgcrypt.so.11 -> libgcrypt
/usr/lib/libpopt.so.0 -> popt (rpm)
/usr/lib/libgpg-error.so.0 -> libgpg-error

Yes, the libs probably need moving...

The initramfs uses dynamically linked binaries these days and will grab
the libraries from wherever they are.

I suspect that we won't be able to get them fixed for test1 purely due
to timing (although if they get built early today, there's a slight
chance).  But having a caveat of "you can only test this if you don't
have a separate /usr" isn't terrible for test1.  Especially as the rest
of the support also requires changes which aren't in packages yet...

This doesn't match the DevelFreezePolicy page.

    Note that ignoring the freeze process can lead to your package not
    getting tagged for the freeze tag, and thus not pushed to rawhide and
    the final release.

What is the "final release" here? F8 Test1 final? Or F8 final?

Packagers must mail rel-eng and ask for a package to be tagged "f8-test1"
if they want the package to be included in F8 Test 1. But if they don't,
the package would appear in Rawhide after the freeze and hence would
enter f8-test2, and so on, and F8 final *automatically*.

Thank you for pointing out this unclarity.  This page has existed for a
while, would have bee nice to get feedback before.  I'll adjust.

Okay, I was going to give this a try, but there doesn't appear to be an
installable tree available.  Both i386 and x86_64 are missing the images
directory, so there's no kernel, initrd, etc.
