Hello everyone,
I've been maintaining the Zig package in Fedora for a while now and I no longer have as much spare time to dedicate to it, though still enough to help with debugging, patching, etc.
Between releases the package is low-maintance but during releases a lot of effort needs to be spend in building and testing the compiler and any packages that depend on it because backwards incomptible changes and regressions are fairly common.
The EPEL especially need help, I've added it in the past due to demand but I really have no experience with it.

I would be very interested in helping. I am a long term member of the Zig community, and a Fedora user. Though, I do not have experience with maintaining packages, I am motivated to learn more about it.

thank you for offering to help, do you already have a FAS account? If not there is a good docs page that goes into what is all needed: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/Joining_the_Package...
Once that is all setup I can add you as a co-maintainer and or request sponsor as needed.

As previously mentioned the package requires little to no work right now because we are in between releases, it is probably best if you get familiar with how to build the rpm package and how the spec file is structured.
In general the documentation for how to package is a bit poor for newcomers, the packaging guidelines[3] and package maintainer docs[4] are the best there is right now and if there is anything unclear or you have open questions feel free to reach out directly to me, I can best be reached under the same email I'm posting this under.

Okay, something isn't working or I'm forgetting some process. The API endpoint to return users never returns yours so I cannot add you.
I had hoped that this would just be a matter of different systems not being synced up but apparently not, if you haven't already logging into the package source[1] might help otherwise I'm gonna have to go figure out what this is.

Yep, works now. The packages should be visible on your package sources dashboard and profile now, and again if anything is unclear or you need help feel free to reach out.

I'm looking at posting some fixes to the upstream zig compiler (PAC/BTI stuff) for arm64 and have been bootstrapping it a fair bit recently (and noting that it only really bootstraps consistently with the llvm backend). I can provide some assistance and am already a package maintainer, but this is one of those as needed statements because I get buried in random tasks for weeks at a time sometimes. So if you still need some level of "helps maintain" particularly for arm64 you can add me too.
