Hi, i have updated my laptop successfully from fc 5 to fc6. Now i have 2 problems, which i cannot bring together at this moment.
The first problem is, that i can open a wine program with a user only once, the second time the screen will not openened.
Further investigations shows, that glxgears is starting, but only shows a black window.
Googling arround, brings me a thread, where one guy has this problem in september, which is solved in the savage driver for x11.
I take a look at the X.log file, and there i can see:
(II) SAVAGE(0): [drm] DRM interface version 1.0 (II) SAVAGE(0): [drm] drmSetBusid failed (7, pci:0000:01:00.0), Permission denied (EE) SAVAGE(0): [drm] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI. (EE) SAVAGE(0): DRI isn't enabled
So, where should i open a bug report? Here? in x11?
Anyonelse here with the wine problem? I have 3 boxes with fc6, 2 are running wine (notes 6.5 and 7.x) fine here, only the t23 makes problems. I have deinstalled all devel pakets and reinstalled them, compiling wine once again, nothing helps. On fc5 i had no problems with wine on the t23.
sry when this is the false plattform.

A black "glxgears" window is a known issue which has been filed at:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=195851
and upstream at:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6357 ,
where you can find a patch which allows to settle the issue. It is included in the current "Xorg" development tree, so expect things to work better in "Xorg" 7.2 which should make its appearance in "FC7". Otherwise, a "Red Hat" fix for "FC6" applying the patch mentioned above is pending according to "Bugzilla" #195851. I have patched the "xorg-x11-drv-savage" driver package myself, and it works very well now.

Have you downloaded the src.rpm and patched it? can you give me a link where i can download it?
are you using fc6? can you show me your xorg.conf?
Those patches in the link are in the fc 6 drv-savage packet, IMHO.
Thanks for your answer Nine

No, the patch is not included. Current version is "xorg-x11-drv-savage-2.1.1-5.fc6" from August 2006. I had submitted the patch I am talking about mid-September 2006 as
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=136548
A. Deucher's original patch has already been included upstream, but current "Xorg" in "FC6" is based on "Xorg" 7.1.1 and lags behind. However, "ajax" has changed the summary to "Update Savage driver to fix DRI hang", so a corresponding update seems to be scheduled for "FC6".

Hi, i implemented the patch, dri is active, glxgears runs one time with black windows, after that glxinfo shows no info about gl.
an strace of glxinfo and glxgears shows both:
open("/dev/dri/card0", O_RDWR) = 4 ioctl(4, DECODER_SET_PICTURE, 0xbfe73d90) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) ioctl(4, DECODER_GET_CAPABILITIES, 0xbfe73d94) = 0 ioctl(4, DECODER_GET_CAPABILITIES, 0xbfe73d94) = 0
selinux is not active and xorg.conf has:
Section "DRI" Group 0 Mode 0666 EndSection
I have a free partition on my t23 and i make a fresh fc6 install next weekend. Perhaps it is a corrupt update, because strace after the permission denied in glxgears and glxinfo shows: stat64("/lib/i686", {st_mode=S_IFDIR| 0755, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 open ("/lib/libtxc_dxtn.so", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) stat64("/lib", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0libtxc_dxtn.so755, st_size=12288, ...}) = 0 open("/usr/lib/tls/i686/libtxc_dxtn.so", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) stat64("/usr/lib/tls/i686", 0xbfae4f50) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
I have no libtxc_dxtn.so installed.
Hi, i implemented the patch, dri is active, glxgears runs one time with black windows, after that glxinfo shows no info about gl.
This unfortunate result is due to the fact that I had accidentally attached the unpatched, original "FC6" package "xorg-x11-drv-savage-2.1.1-5.fc6.i386.rpm" to my mail to Jörn instead of the updated one. The latter which adds the patch mentioned above and drops M. Harris' [non working] "disable dri" patch actually does the job [agreeing with Jörn's later result].

which patches do you use? One is a dri tree patch in the dri.c

Ok, i have recompiled the savage module only with the https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=7041 and none of the others.
Now glxgears works and i am able to open winecfg or a wine program twice and it shows the window.
Thanks god (or Joachim), now i can use notes in my office.
