rawhide -- sb live sound suddenly messed up?

I have a Creative Labs 4.1 (that is, 2 front, 2 rear, 1 subwoofer) digital
speaker system hooked up to an SB Live sound card. This has always had the
well-known quirk of digital being disabled by default, but suddenly as of a
week or so ago, there's a new problem: no sound except that meant for the
rear channels. I can mess with boosting that to the point where it's heard
from the subwoofer and front speakers as well, but I can't actually get the
main, normal sound to happen at all.

Anyone else seeing this? I believe it started sometime between Test 3 and
now.
