Headsup: new API and ABI changing goffice update headed towards rawhide

Hi All,

I've been working on updating gnumeric to the 1.8.x tree, this needs the latest 
stable 0.6 series of goffice, therefor I'm also updating goffice from 0.2 to 
0.6, which means a change in soname, and in API.

The only other user is abiword, a patch for abiword for the 0.5 devel series of 
goffice, which lead to the 0.6 release is available here:

It should be trivial to adjust this patch to make abiword 's charting plugin 
work with goffice-0.6 (search replace 0.5 with 0.6).

Another problem is that we also have the special goffice04 package as some 
packages needed goffice-0.4, while others where still using 0.2 . For now we 
can keep this package until the 0.4 users move over to 0.6, but there is a 
conflict between goffice04 and the new goffice-devel . The problem are a bunch 
of files under /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/goffice. Notice that this are API 
reference doc, so in the goffice04 case the are wrongly in the main package and 
they should be moved to the -devel package. This would make the conflict less 
severe as it then is a conflict between devel files, but still a conflict. 
Suggestion, move those files to the -devel package of goffice04 and put them 
under /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/goffice04 to avoid the conflict.

I'm working on rebuilding abiword (preliminary goffice patch in
-devel; I have a newer patch that fixes the rest of the API changes,
but more below), but am running into several instances of the same
problem.

Building abiword, with or without the goffice patch (without the
patch, goffice won't be detected so it won't be compiled in anyway),
fails in several places with the same symptom: FALSE and TRUE are not
defined.

I was resorting to patching them one by one to false and true, but
after the third time it occured to me that it might just be some
headers (e.g. glib.h) are not being included.

Anyone familiar with Abiword's build system and can take a look?

gnucash rebuilt, so that's one less goffice04 user in rawhide.

That patch does not really work. Priting support is missing (can be
commented out, but with loss of functionality) and there is a weird
bug:

AbiGOChart.cpp: In member function 'void GOChartView::modify()':
AbiGOChart.cpp:833: error: cannot convert 'GtkWindow*' to 'GClosure*'
for argument '4' to 'GtkWidget* gog_guru(GogGraph*, GogDataAllocator*,
GOCmdContext*, GClosure*)'

(this is from the 2.6 branch, but the stable branch has an
almost-identical error)

Even Abiword trunk is still using goffice 0.4 . Per this debian-bugs post:

The lack of printing support discussed seems to suggest updating
Abiword to use 0.4 instead. I can just drop in the plugin from trunk
in that case.

Thats a good solution I think as we are still shipping 0.4 in goffice04, as 
that once was needed for gnucash, while abiword and gnumeric were still using 0.2.
