For some reason, I can't do an update as yum complains that dbus and dbus-glib
both need a version of libexpat which is out of sync. Is anyone else seeing
this after doing an install from the 8T1 x86_64 DVD?

I haven't been able to rebuild the OCaml packages because of something I 
don't understand which is happening in Koji.  I described the problem 
here but didn't get an answer:

Have you rebuilt ocaml-lablgl for the new version-release of ocaml
yet? It still requires the older ocaml = 3.10.0-4.fc8 as you can see
here, too

which is not available since ocaml is at 3.10.0-6.fc8 already.

Above broken deps report, on the contrary, is against frozen rawhide (=f8test2),
while packages in koji can be newer already.

I can't build ocaml-lablgl because I'm not the package owner (AIUI).

I don't _want_ ocaml-labgl in order to build ocaml-findlib - it's not 
needed for that build.

OK, the provides in that package are totally wrong.

Someone else built that package?  (I admit I don't really understand the 
complex system of branches used by Fedora).  In fedora-development repo 
I see the correct list of provides for that package:

I would also suggest forming a ocaml SIG since it seems to be a large
set of packages handled by a variety of different maintainers.  You all
should work together on this framework and prevent these things from
happening.

It _is_ the case. Except when there is a freeze. F8 Test2 was frozen
on Aug 29th. That means the repo was frozen. Builds from devel/ after
that date stay in koji and are not released into the development repo
unless you request rel-eng to do that:

When the freeze is done, builds that have piled up in koji
automatically enter the development repo again.

The problem is that despite the freeze of the repo, koji continues to
build against the very latest builds from devel/ because it creates
new _internal_ repositories from the latest packages, including newer
broken ones which are not in the public development repo because of
the freeze policy. During the freeze, packagers can break devel in
koji, and the broken deps report doesn't know about it because it
only examines the public [frozen] repo.

This is what has happened with ocaml-lablgl. It was built in koji
after the freeze and is available in the koji buildroots for F8
development, but not yet in the public development repo (aka rawhide).

You need to find out which contents of the ocaml-lablgl package cause
these "Provides", and if it is not a build/configuration problem,
possibly you need to filter them out with customised
find-provides/find-requires scripts. I assume the scripts in the ocaml
main package are used to create the ocaml(Foo) Provides.

osgcal, osgal and openalpp are victims of the OpenSceneGraph-2 API
changes.

I already had proposed an approach to keep these programs (Downgrade
OpenSceneGraph to OSG-1 and to add an OpenSceneGraph2 package), but
feedback so far had been more or less non-exitant

Remain the alternatives to make these packages buildable against
OpenSceneGraph-2 (Doable for 1 or them - IIRC, it's osgal) or to
abandoned them (osgalpp or osgal is dead upstream).

Thats not completely true, you did get feedback from several people including 
me, and I agree with Mike that these breakages are getting very annoying and 
should be fixed soon.

Let me repeat my solution of when you asked howto downgrade:
1) Make the main OpenSceneGraph package OpenSceneGraph 1.x again, using epoch
    to fix version issues.
2) Add a new OpenSceneGraph2 package
3) Make the devel's conflict each other if doing an other solution turns out to
    be a lot of work.

Solved.

Won't help any of the packages, because they would
still BR the wrong
versions. i.e. these packages would not survive a rebuild without manual
intervention.

I was hoping for ways to avoid the epoch bump, or the maintainers of the
packages above would have the insight to acknowledge their packages to
be dead rsp. them to upgrade them to OSG2. 

To me, it doesn't make real sense to keep them.

i have to agree with ralf here. if the librarys are dead upstream and
if they are not brought up to par with the current release of
openscenegraph they might  just vanish. Carrying old obsolete versions
around or downgrading to them is just turning the clock back to an old
state and wont fix or achieve anything besides encouraging
counterproductive behaviour like not updating the projects that
require open scene graph. It was important osg got updated.
