I know it's been a rough couple of days here, python-2.7 and boost rebuilds creating build havoc, systemd creating some interesting confusion, and dist-git to top it all off. But we'll work through it as best as we can, as we always do. Onward into the future!

Because of the Python 2.7 transition, it's not possible at the moment to install fedora-packager (or for me to fix the problems, because I can't check in stuff).
It appears there are only 1 package which is causing all the issues:
$ sudo yum --enablerepo=koji --exclude="*.i686" install fedora-packager [...] Error: Package: notify-python-0.1.1-8.fc12.x86_64 (fedora) Requires: python(abi) = 2.6 Removing: python-2.6.5-2.fc14.x86_64 (@koji/12) Available: compat-python24-2.4.6-1.fc13.x86_64 (rpmfusion-free) Available: python-2.6.4-20.fc13.x86_64 (fedora) Installing: python-2.7-7.fc14.x86_64 (koji) Available: python3-3.1.2-6.fc13.x86_64 (updates-testing) Available: python3-3.1.2-12.fc14.x86_64 (koji)

Well, I think what prevents notify-python from being rebuilt against notify-python is in pygtk2 side (see bug 618944 I have filed), the workaround exists. Should the workaround be applied for now?

I vote +1.
This package is vital. We need to get things going.

Well, workaround added in notify-python-0.1.1-13.fc1{4,5}. For F-14 I submitted push request.

Thank you. FWIW I tried to fix this yesterday but I couldn't work in CVS because it was locked and I couldn't switch to the new git system, a chicken-n-egg problem. Plus some of us have things to do besides immediately respond to a massive change in the build system :-)
But anyway, thank you very much for making the fix.

There's also a fixed pygtk2 awaiting review:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/pygtk2-2.17.0-7.fc14
I'm currently setting up a VM with current F14 and py27 (my desktop just has too many currently-broken-with-py27 packages installed for it to be feasible to update to py27 yet) to test these and I'll get feedback up as soon as I can. notify-python isn't critpath so it can be pushed whenever Mamoru feels like it, but pygtk2 is critpath so it will need positive feedback from someone else in addition to me for it to be pushed, so if someone could test it and provide feedback that would be great.

We didn't have this *freeze* reflected in the Fedora 14 schedule. Is this the same as the task "Branch Fedora 14 from Rawhide?"
In "normal" circumstances, how long would you expect the freeze to last?

Yes.

Jesse should confirm this, but my impression is that it won't be a freeze in the future -- we'll be able to branch both pkgdb and git without locking the repository down.
That said, I don't know if we have a human race condition where we branch a package and the maintainer builds for devel; unaware that it has already branched for F-14. So maybe we want a freeze anyway...
Jesse?

Well perhaps the page name is misleading, but this is the "freeze" of being branched and using bodhi for everything. It's exactly what we did last release, the first release of no frozen rawhide. We are "frozen" in that if you do a build in the f14 branch, the build won't automatically show up, you have to do a bodhi action.

Are the koji static repos coming back soon? Current rawhide is mid-way through the boost/python havoc.

static repos have long been deprecated koji creates a latest link each time a newRepo task finishes http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/repos/dist-rawhide/latest/x86_64/ for instance

Okay. I was going off an earlier conversation that I'd understood to be "we have no more 'freezes,' period, in Fedora."

I'm open to naming this page something differently, since it's not a complete freeze.
