epel 8 anytime soon?

Hi

is it OK that i can see no traces of epel 8 on src.fedoraproject.org.
if i assume a release date of 06.2019 i would expect to see some beta-code 
here.

only traces i found, but i did spend much time with searching:

RHEL 8 does not ship php71, so that would need to be added in EPEL 8
as well.  It was included in the RHEL 8 public beta, but not the GA
release.

I've been trying to port a few packages to RHEL 8. There are some
gotchas, such a some missing python modules that use tetex to generate
docs and require debugging, for Christ's sake, it's been *30 years*
since I debugged tetex!!!!

Correct.  The release includes PHP 7.2.  It does not include 7.1.

I will update the release date as that is too optimistic now. Please join
the epel-devel list to bring this up.

You will see beta code at src.stg.fedoraproject.org in the next month.

EL-7 already have PHP 7.1 (as SCL)

So msgpack extension already available.


BTW, EL-8 will have 7.2 (for now), and additional extensions will be in

And if you want to try EL-8, my repository already have a full PHP
stack, including PHP 5.6 to 7.3 with most of possible extensions and
libraries already there.
