Hi everyone,
My name is Rémi Verschelde (IRC nickname "Akien", FAS "akien"). I
just
joined this mailing list with the intent to become a Fedora packager.
I am already an experienced RPM packager [0] and developer (+ QA, bug
triage, a bit of everything) for the Mageia distribution, as well as a
developer for several free software projects (Godot Engine [1], Lugaru
[2], Jump 'n Bump [3], OpenDungeons [4], Minilens [5] and a few others
-- i.e. mostly games and game development software).
I would like to start by maintaining packages for my upstream projects
in Fedora (jumpnbump is being reviewed [6], I have a COPR for godot
[7]). As I package many libre games in Mageia [0], I would also gladly
maintain some of them in Fedora.
I am not a Fedora user (my main distribution being Mageia), but I am
involved in the Fedora Games SIG and Rust SIG. With the latter I try
to ensure that Rust packaging in Fedora and Mageia stays in sync (so
far mostly syncing Mageia with jistone's Fedora work, but by getting
involved upstream I try to bring an added value from the Mageia
world).
I still have some docs to read about becoming a Fedora packager, so
far I've experienced the policies mostly by discussing on IRC with
Neal Gompa.
Librement,
Rémi
Welcome to Fedora, Rémi!
It's always great to see more people coming to become a part of
Fedora. I hope you'll enjoy working with people here, and fresh
perspectives help when evolving the distribution. :)
