Call for videos - Fedora Women Day
by Amita
Hi All,
I am reaching out to you all, as your name is in the super women list ;)
[1].
As you must be aware of, that we (fedora-diversity) team is planning to
have fedora women day on 15th July, 2016 [2]
I would like you to speak about your contribution in fedora, make a
video and share it, sounds fun :) , yeah, it is.
This way, we will be able to share your contribution globally and there
will be many who will get inspired by your journey.
I will be really thankful to you, if that can be done before 30June, 2016.
I know, you don't need a format, being an expert at speaking ;) , Still,
here are the sample questions, you may want to cover ::
1. Name and Introduction with a cute smile :D
2. How did you get to know about Fedora and when?
3. What area you are contributing in Fedora, and how?
4. What difficulties have you faced and how did you overcome?
5. Anything interesting specially for our women audience
6. Time :: 15-20 mins
Hey decause,
Dude, can you please help us get a space/link, where these videos can be
uploaded without much pain :)
Looking forward for the replies soon. Please Ack, if you are in for the
game.
Thanks & Regards,
Amita (Ami/ Eywa)

Hey all,
A few of the local Fedora ambassadors and event organizers for FWD Pune
event met this morning for a quick discussion on the proposed event and
here we have the meeting notes for everyone:
[1] Apologies that this part wasn't well explained previously but the
list of talks that you see on the pirate pad, mainly under the '*Getting
Started with your Fedora contribution' *section are going**to be flash
talks for 5 mins each. Since we couldn't find existing female
contributors in all of these different contribution pathways, to share
their experience with us; a group of volunteers decided to try finding
out details about these different contribution pathways, how to get
started, the related IRC channels and mailing lists for each and finally
give a 5 min presentation about their findings. This can save the rest
of the audience's effort to do a complete research on the different
contribution pathways (which is often the first barrier in contribution)
and they should have most of the data at hand to now go back and start
contributing. The FWD event was also thought of as a first step to
initiating a consistent women contributor community, where each month we
could take up one of these contribution pathways and make it as the
flavor of the month...doing some actual hands-on contribution together
for that chosen project or pathway. This can probably even be clubbed
with the monthly Fedora meetups that we have in Pune. That ofcourse can
be discussed in more details with the local ambassadors.
[2] The new speakers can try and do some actual contributions before the
FWD event so that they can also share their experience (and blockers) at
the event. They could also join the upcoming Fedora monthly meetup and
release party, planned on 9th July, at Pune.
[3] The organizers are suggested to try reach out to college students
(not just via emails or messages, but by physically going down to
colleges) since this event can be a good place for new contributors to
know how to get started with their contribution as well as meet other
existing and experienced community members.
[4] The organizers are also suggested to do more social media posts
about the event, so as to create more awareness around this event.
[5] The new contributors and speakers can also join the Fedora telegram
group, since not all of us are big IRC fans.
[6] The speaker and attendee list to be moved to Wiki from the etherpad.
I hope I have covered all the points that was discussed in today's
meeting. If not, today's meeting attendees, please add those points to
the thread here.
If anyone has any further questions on any of the above points or any
suggestions for the event in general, please do feel free to shoot a
response to this thread.

Fedora Women Day - Discussion
by Amita
Hi All,
I hope you all are doing well.
I have few discussion points for the Fedora Women Day, coming up in mid
of July.
1. Are we going to do the event during the same hours of the day across
the globe, if yes can we discuss on the timings?
2. Tatica, can we do mini version of the panel discussion for diversity
inclusion, as it is going to happen in FLOCK, we can have good
experience on FWD as well.
3. What should be the schedule look like, are we going to have the full
event online/live across the regions or we want to have some local
speakers as well?
4. Are we planning to give any swags/stickers to the participants? I
remember the discussion around the new design for the stickers, do we
have the ticket?
5. And, should we announce about our next event(next to FWD) in FWD, to
keep the ball rolling and interest alive.
We can discuss these items in the meeting as well.
I know, Tatica is not well, get well soon honey :) . So, the little
silence in here.
Please pour in your suggestions in the list to have a great event.
Thanks & Regards,
Ami

Fedora Women day in less than a month
by Dolores Portalatin
Hello, I think planning needs to get finished on this so that we can all take actions to make the event a success. We were discussing this a bit in IRC and I wanted to recap and continue discussion on the mailing list. So some things that need to get done:
* confirm speakers
* confirm local event schedule
* plan how the virtual event will be held and who will moderate
* plan dates/times for virtual event
* write announcements and get blog posts and magazine articles out at least a week before the events, but sooner would be better
* clarify what is happening with the budget and stickers/certificates
* possible creation of videos on women in fedora and on diversity, perhaps tatica can create one if she is up to it
* get status on women in GSoC magazine article, possibly push to get that written and published soon
It would be great if we could get these things planed out and a set of actions taken by Monday, and then make a push to get everything done in advance of fedora women day.

FWD - Planning
by Amita
Hi All,
I have come up with this draft https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FWD_Pune
for the local Pune event for FWD.
I have also asked for more suggestions on fedor-india and ambassdor list
to make the vent more successful.
Please advice in case we have come up with any plan or TODOs for the event.
Here are the few action items to deal with ::
1. A video from María Leandro on Diversity.
2. Posts for invite and publicize (in fedora magazine and local mailing
lists)
3. Any banner or stickers designs, if we have not already done that.
4. List of speakers for the local events.
5. Blog posts after the event.
Thanks & Regards,
Amita

Backup of Diversity_Survey Etherpad?
by Justin W. Flory
Hi all,
Earlier in IRC today, we noticed that it seems like the Etherpad for the
Diversity_Survey pad has disappeared.
https://v.etherpad.org/p/Diversity_Survey
Looking into it more, I think this might be a development instance for
Etherpad with WebRTC video chat, so I think it might have been wiped out
by regular maintenance / clean-up by the developers. :(
Might anyone have a local backup so we don't have to start over from the
beginning on this? Please let us know if you have anything!
