[fedora-d&i] introduction
by laasek@gmx.at
hi everyone!
i am writing this introductionary mail to introduce myself to the team and participants of diversity&inclusion from fedora. let us start with a little about my persona. i'm quite new to fedora, but since joining and getting into the project, diversity&inclusion is what had my attention from the very beginning, as i am well aware of how diversity and multiculturallity in projects, such as fedora, aswell as the inclusion of women in tech can be benefitial. and because i know, how important the inclusion of women, aswell as diversity is, i am looking forward into joining the group for inclusion & diversity on fedora, so that that together with successful teamwork we do our best on working towards and improving the future development of women in tech to guarantee the diversity of our fedora project, we all like for many years to come. from a more technical viewpoint, i like the edge, that fedora has regarding its software repositories always being up to date with every release to come. as with other communities, i have a year-long-passion&history with foss&the communities to it&several projects being open&free,just as fedora is. as of yet, there is a few areas,i am interested within fedora. i am mainly looking into contributing to d&i,because of its importance,aswell as contributing to commops,communication,marketing,social media and stuff related to the communicational representation of fedora. since bad advertising, kills a good product, it is even more important to indicate the diversial&inclusional part of fedora as an key-point. therefor i am looking forward to attending several events in the future, where foss, fedora, diversity & inclusion of women can be promoted, to build up and reach masses to create&reach awareness for the importance of diversity &inclusion for such big communities, as fedora is. i'm looking forward into getting in touch with as many of you, so that together as a team, we can be working towards our goals for inclusion and diversity within fedora&beyond.

[fedora-d&i] International Candy Swap: Flock 2019 edition
by Justin W. Flory
Hi all! I hope you are looking forward to another awesome year of Flock.
The fourth annual International Candy Swap will take place again at
Flock this year! To sign up, please email me off-list or send me a
Telegram message with the following:
* Name
* FAS account
* Origin country for your candies
* Any food allergies
== What is it??
The International Candy Swap is an annual tradition where Fedorans from
around the world bring local sweets and candies from their home
countries to share with other Fedora contributors. We swap candies and
get to try new goodies that are not normally found in our hometown candy
stores.
Learn something about your fellow community members and indulge in some
yummy sweets at the same time! One evening of the conference, we will
gather for about an hour, while everyone shares what they brought and
explains them before trying them.
In the past, we had:
* German chocolates
* American salt water taffy
* French fruit candies
* Czech/European coconut Fidorkas
* Homemade Indian sweets
* Swedish sour candies
* Australian chocolate koala bears
* And so much more!
I can't wait to see what we will gather this year!
See more from last year:

== Who is participating?
Sign-ups will be maintained here:
https://infinote.fedoraproject.org/cgit/infinote/tree/candy-swaps/flock-2...
If you see your name here, you are registered. :)
Start looking for travel-safe candies you can bring to Flock. Don't
forget to contact me with your name, FAS username, what country you will
bring sweets from, and any food allergies you have.
See you in Budapest!

[fedora-d&i] [2019-07-15] [minutes] FWD resource pack, revisiting event organization guidelines
by Justin W. Flory
Hi folks! Another weekly meeting came to an end a moment ago.
This week's meeting was mostly split between two tickets:
* FWD 2019: Improvements/additions to organizer resource pack
* Event organization guidelines: Coming up with next steps
pyadav and nkathole are collaborating on suggested improvements to the
resource pack by Monday, 29 July. The goal is to have a draft we can
have ready for the Flock D&I hackfest, to share with attendees and also
to hopefully collect feedback on more ideas from people in the room.
bee2502 is working on the event organization guidelines and best
practices ticket. She is looking for help on reading each of the ten
chapters in the NumFOCUS guidelines and writing a chapter summary of key
points for Fedora in Ticket #54. If you are interested in helping out
here, reach out to Bee for a pointer on how to get started. :)
Thanks everyone who came out for the meeting. Catch you next week!
