Since the very idea was conceived in March'2016, I am having issues with budgeting (and other organizers will also have similar issues) as the rule book for ambassadors says that I should have applied in the previous year.
What can be done on the matter?
Thanks and Best

Prof Mani, I support the Outreach efforts, but for a while have been concerned with unfunded mandates. Requiring regions to fund these events seems counter to helpful. As in supporting Inclusion will take away from local Fedoran's already limited budget.
I'm preparing to be really uppity if need be, I'm hoping that doing this will create less liabilities for others. This sorta thing is why I was recruited from Fedora. I'm reaching out to my contacts within the group behind the scenes to see what can be done. I already have a meeting scheduled next week, and have folks "able to do a meeting at end of month." A month is too long to wait.
I'll update as things develop.
As to specifics of your event, I was mistaken in thinking these events would be Project wide. Im avoiding details of your event (for now :D.) I'm trying to walk the line here, so I can be able to react as needed. I've already reached out to RH's CEO on Twitter, and have made clear if needed he'll join the dialog if need be.
At this point we are having to Fight Fedora for having an event. This time would be better spent planning, IMHO.
Let's see Fedora live by Being Excellent to Each Other,

Outside of Fedora Events, and newly this year, funding for Outreachy Internships, there is no 'central funding.' It is my understanding (I'm relatively new here) that as a project we believe that the regions should have as much autonomy over their own budgets, and decide how best to spend their funding in their local areas. This includes Diversity and Inclusion efforts, which are facilitated and guided by the Fedora Council, the Fedora Project and Community Lead, and the newly selected Fedora Diversity Advisor.

"Being uppity" doesn't sound like the way that Friends (one of Fedora's foundations) treat eachother. Please just default to open, and be honest and positive.

Though Red Hat does support Fedora as a community project, and we are very very thankful, Fedora has it's own governing body and community process for making decisions together. You are certainly free to reach out to whomever you'd like to on twitter, but know that when you do so outside of (and in some ways contrary to) the established channels of communication and process of addressing budget issues (which are agreed upon and openly discussed and decided) you are no longer representing the "whole" of the Fedora community, but your own individual interests.
If we are going to make an effective organizational request, we need to do so as an organization, with a unified and agreed upon approach, with data and evidence to back up our claims. Other approaches will appear disorganized, fragmented, and unsupported, and can actually *hurt* our ability to make the case for increased funding later.
Numerous times I have advised on the way to most productively contribute to the budgetary process--helping regions report action and impact of their spending, and making the case for increasing future spend by making projections based data and proposed activities. I will continue to advise you to constructively and positively participate in the budget process in this manner if you actually want to help.

I do not see where we are "fighting" about the event? There is nothing preventing anyone from creating a ticket or wiki page to start planning an event or series of events. In fact, that is a requirement for requesting funding for events in most regions, and a logistical necessity for folks to understand where they can help contribute.
If you have concerns with the larger budget process as a whole, please address your concerns to the council-discuss list. When I read this thread, I read it as a logostical question about funding/sponsoring a regional event, and have responded as such.
Hope this helps, --RemyD.

Each ambassador region has their own process for organizing and sponsoring events. If you haven't yet, I would suggest you join #fedora-ambassadors on IRC in Freenode, and ask some of the folks there how to go about requesting resources and organizing events in your region. The ambassadors@lists.fedoraproject.org mailing list is also a good place to ask too, once you get some concrete instructions. If you do not get a response, respond here and let us know.

I am long-time ambassador and I posted because the apac process does not accommodate late events like these

Hey!
The FWD as we listed before will be an online event running locally on each participant (such as we do with FLISoL) not needing more than a computer, a webcam, microphone and internet.
Any budget needs should be addressed on the local meetings held for each location. Lets remember please that budget is handled on each Region, I'm not in charge or handling any budget nor have the power to decide where funds go.
A friendly reminder to everyone:
Money is just a plus, yet is not a need for an event.

Thanks Maria. If we find that the regional process isn't sufficient, we can look at allocating a central reserve for this as well. As everyone following the budget discussion right now in the Council Discuss list can see, we're feeling pretty tight this time around (not because there's less money total, but because we're trying to bring abstract budgets in line with reality, and it's a little painful).

That's a good reminder!
