How to translate release-note
by Noriko Mizumoto
Hi Paul and Karsten
I've started the following for release-note translation.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs_Project_work_using_git
Now the following commands do not work for me.
make test
make validate-ja-JP
[noriko@noriko release-notes]$ make test
make: *** No rule to make target `test'. Stop.
[noriko@noriko release-notes]$ make validate-ja-JP
make: *** No rule to make target `validate-ja-JP'. Stop.
I tried to edit Makefile to add;
OTHER_LANGS = ja-JP
then
[noriko@noriko release-notes]$ make test
grep: ja-JP/Article_Info.po: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `test'. Stop.
I tried to change the language code to match the one under po/ directory
in Makefile;
OTHER_LANGS = ja
then
[noriko@noriko release-notes]$ make test
grep: ja/Article_Info.po: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `test'. Stop.
It seems that I need your help.

Comment:
Finished word smithing. Since chapter is so long, made changes, uploaded
that file, along with companion text file with all of the changes made.
Please read the bottom of comments file, only change not made but raised
issue:
QUESTION About Continuity Between Pages 7 and 8:
I notice in the code for the document, there is a notice that there are no
USB Live images for PPC (Apples correct?) computers but it is commented
out. On page 8, it clearly states you can use a Linux or Windows system to
make a Live Image. My concern is that throughout this entire chapter so
far, PPC has been included. Without that notice, all of a sudden PPC is
dropped off the planet, without any explanation why? I think it is worth
mentioning the commented out notice, or change "You can use either a
Windows or Linux system to make the bootable USB media." to read ONLY
instead of either.
Also, no instructions for someone running a Linux machine, what if someone
is switching from Ubuntu to Fedora, but doesn't know how to make a Live
image on the USB?

Meeting today at 1900 UTC
by Paul W. Frields
I'll have to miss today's meeting -- sorry everyone. I have a flight
scheduled at 1945 UTC and I'll be at an airport with no free
connectivity. (I hate you, Washington/Dulles.)
But we *REALLY* need to pow-wow about ongoing L10n difficulties -- see
Noriko's very helpful messages to f-trans-list and f-docs-list -- and
how to solve them properly:
1. How do we make fedora-doc-utils available for people to commit?
Should we backport changes from that repo to the old CVS/docs-common,
and let translators continue to use that?
2. Do the influx of translators from Red Hat's translation community
(hopefully many more languages) have the ability to effectively add
support for their respective languages in our new modules?
3. We need to update the TQSG with the appropriate guidance for
translators.
There may be other issues -- I haven't triaged all my email yet this
morning.
