Publican requires KDE?
by Keith Sharp
Hello,
I noticed that Publican (0.3.0 from Rawhide) has a
BuildRequires/Requires for kdesdk. I don't use any other KDE software
and this requirement causes a huge additional download on my system.
Could someone explain why Publican needs this packages and if there is
any way this could be avoided?
Thanks,
Keith.

Changing the colophon
by Paul W. Frields
Our release notes "Colophon," which lists all the people who have
contributed to the Release Notes, always accumulates names. In the
past, we've never stripped out any old names.
However, there is an important question we should resolve: How do we go
forward from here? Options include:
1. Leave all the names on the list.
a. ...because figuring out when someone's individual contributions are
gone is REALLY hard, and people should be credited for that work as long
as we think it might still be in the Release Notes or a translation
somewhere.
b. ...because people drift in and out of Fedora Project work, and
shuffling names might not be a good use of time.
2. Erase the whole list and start over each cycle.
a. ...because this is reflective of who's working hard on writing,
editing, translating, and packaging this edition.
b. ...because it's easier to track and makes for a more sane length
and meaningful content for the Colophon.
There are probably other options but they all involve some give and
take, and more work overall. These options are equally easy to
maintain, I think; we just need to discuss them publicly and then pick.
The FDSCo should probably decide on a policy in Wednesday's meeting, but
it would be good to hear what the L10N and Docs communities think.

Single Source Summary
by Jonathan Roberts
Hey all,
I wondered if anyone could spare some time to explain what direction the
SSS is taking!?
I was just thinking, from the point of view of work flows, that the work
done for the alpha/beta release notes is exactly what we're going to
need to base our final Release Overview on.
Best wishes,
Jon

Desktop yay/nay
by Karsten Wade
"Desktop User Guide? Oh, I guess that's not for me because I use a
laptop."
Yes, the multiple meanings of 'desktop' trip us up here.
We had decided at one point to change the "Fedora Desktop User Guide" to
the "Fedora User Guide." This could be perceived as a wider scope, in
that it could include using Fedora web services in the future.
I think that's OK, as the line between the client and server melds
continuously and from the end-user perspective, "Fedora search" or
"Fedora TV" could be covered in a "Fedora User Guide."
Still, the old DUG title has been kept around because of the hassle of
changing the URL and such.
Before I begin work on a new, permanent URL for User Guide work, is it:
* wiki/User_Guide/
* wiki/Desktop_User_Guide/
* wiki/???_User_Guide

DUG freeze and fork
by Karsten Wade
As per earlier discussions, I am going to fork the DUG for F-9 work. I
am going to leave the current work as-is, because it retains the commit
history so we can work out the F-8 branching next.
By giving us an F-9 workspace, work there can continue with the current
enthusiasm, while we work out the F-8 version in parallel.
Also, I am going to use the new organization and (hopefully) the
MediaWiki friendly URLs so they can remain permanent.
Anyone want to help, I'll be working on this during my
in-between-other-stuff on #fedora-docs today.
