Problem with upgrading the fedora core 1 install

Hi,
 
I've installed fedora core 1 recently and I tried to upgrade it, I
wanted to add the gcc c compiler and some other things so I booted the
system with fedora cd1 and choose to upgrade the install, but I was
never asked to select what to install exactly, instead it just started
installing.
I've tried a couple of things with the bootloader but no option was
working. So the question is how do I upgrade?

This question belongs on the fedora-list, not the fedora-docs-list.

Install gcc using redhat-config-packages--Red Hat-->System
Settings-->Add/Remove Applications.  Click on Development Tools, and gcc
will be installed.

Ok sorry for that, i'm new to this.

Problem is I don’t run an GUI version

Install gcc using redhat-config-packages--Red Hat-->System
