Possible Edu-SIG Meeting
by Sebastian Dziallas
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to suggest a meeting on IRC related to the educational
efforts of Fedora. Further details are yet to be announced, and this is
just a first idea. So, what do you think? And how many people are here
willing to participate in such a possible meeting (it makes IMHO not
very much sense to have a meeting on IRC with only two people...)?

Hello Everyone!
by Brandon Thomas
Hello Everyone,
I am Brandon Thomas, a Systems Developer & Web Administrator. I had a
few years of experience in working in a school district while I was
still in High School and the district I worked in was really reliant on
MS software. I'm interested in this group to see if there isn't a type
of movement we can start within the U.S. Educational system to shift
them to Fedora (or other linux distros) to reduce costs for districts
and the whole educational system itself.
Does anyone have access to any financial information in regards to a
districts costs in usage of M$FT products annually? I think it would be
very interesting to see a break down of how much a district uses for all
of their M$FT licenses (Office, the OS, user-licenses, Server OS's,
etc.)
Here's to the hoping of a successful SIG!

Education SIG
by Sebastian Dziallas
Hi everybody,
now, I am able to announce the establishment of an Education SIG. I have
created a wiki page, which is currently placed here [1].
Again, I would like to encourage everybody, who is interested in
education to join us on fedora-education-list and to add his or her name
to the list in the wiki.
In the near future, one topic might be, how to go on with educational
work (e.g. in connection with K12LTSP). But this is only one part, so
feel free to join and discuss.
Best Regards,
Sebastian Dziallas

Education SIG
by Sebastian Dziallas
Hi everybody,
I wanted to welcome all those, who have recently subscribed to this
list. Currently, there is not so much traffic here and it's quite calm,
but maybe we can change this in the (near) future.
As you may have noticed, I have submitted a spin proposal to release
engineering and recently made a suggestion for an Education SIG [1].
I would like to ask everybody, who is subscribed to this list and
interested in education to notify me and / or post here on this list. I
have already received e-mails off the list from interested folks and I'd
encourage you to do so, if you should have further questions.
Maybe Warren could also get in touch with me, so that we can proceed
with the work on this soon.
Sebastian
