Το συνέδριο κοινοτήτων ελεύθερου λογισμικού και λογισμικού ανοικτού κώδικα FOSSCOMM (Free and Open Source Software Communities Meeting) επιστρέφει μετά από 5 χρόνια στο Ηράκλειο της Κρήτης. Η ομαδα που διοργάνωσε τη συνάντηση του 2018, επανενώνεται και σας προσκαλεί το Σαββατοκυριακο 21-22 Οκτωβρίου στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης, για να ενημερωθούμε για τις εξελίξεις στο χώρο του ελεύθερου/ανοικτού λογισμικού, να ανταλλάξουμε γνώσεις και ιδέες γύρω από τις ανοιχτές τεχνολογίες και τον τρόπο που επηρεάζουν τις ζωές μας, να γνωριστούμε και να γιορτάσουμε το πάθος που μας ενώνει. Dear researchers, we hope this message finds you well. We would like to inform you that this year's conference of free software and open source software communities Fosscomm will be held by the University of Thessaly,in the premises of the IT department with applications inBiomedicineof the University of Thessaly in the city of Lamia, on the dates 18-20 November 2022. The conference is a joint organization of the Department of Informatics with Applications in Biomedicine and the Open Technologies Organization EELLAK. With this email we would like to invite you to consider coming as a speaker at this year's Fosscomm. This year's Fosscomm will have as its main topics, the application of Open Technologies in the field of Healthcare as well as their application in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. It will also include speeches regarding their applications in other scientific disciplines.The conference will include an open discussion on Open Technologies in which questions from the audience related to the topic will be answered, Workshops in which participants will have the opportunity to learn about topics related to Open Technologies through their practice and practice and finally presentations-speeches concerning Open Technologies and their application in various industries and for various services. The topic of the speech/workshop is at the discretion of the speaker. We would like to invite you, and it would be a great honor for you to be with us, in order to present to us your own research or the research of the company you work for through a talk that will last about 30 minutes or a workshop that will last approximately from 1 to 2.5 hours. Ενδιαφέρον για contribution σε Web / Software development

Καλησπέρα σας, αν και χρησιμοποιώ ως κύριο λειτουργικό σύστημα το Linux για αρκετά χρόνια, δεν ασχολήθηκα ποτέ με το contribution. Με ενδιαφέρει το Open Source και έχω ξεκινήσει πρόσφατα να εργάζομαι ως Entry-level Web Developer. Θα ήθελα να συμμετάσχω στο Fedora Project, αλλά δυσκολεύομαι να βρω τον τρόπο να ξεκινήσω. Πως θα μπορούσα να γνωριστώ με τα μέλη της ελληνικής κοινότητας, μέσω κάποιου meeting ή κάτι παρόμοιο; Dimitris

English version follows below. --- 11ο συνέδριο FOSSCOMM 2018 13-14 Οκτωβρίου 2018 Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης, Ηράκλειο https://fosscomm2018.gr Το FOSSCOMM (Free and Open Source Software Communities Meeting) είναι το πανελλήνιο συνέδριο των κοινοτήτων ελεύθερου λογισμικού και λογισμικού ανοιχτού κώδικα. Απευθύνεται κυρίως σε προγραμματιστές, φοιτητές και γενικά σε όποιους ενδιαφέρονται για το open source ανεξαρτήτως του γνωστικού τους υποβάθρου. Το περιεχόμενο είναι ευρέως ενδιαφέροντος, από τεχνικά ζητήματα και workshops, μέχρι μεταφράσεις, νομικά θέματα, θέματα πολιτικής σχετικά με το ελεύθερο/ανοιχτό λογισμικό κ.α. Πραγματοποιείται κάθε χρόνο από το 2008 κι έως σήμερα έχει διοργανωθεί σε 6 διαφορετικές πόλεις. Η διοργάνωση γίνεται από εθελοντές και η χρηματοδότησή του βασίζεται σε χορηγίες και δωρεές. Η οργανωτική επιτροπή του FOSSCOMM 2018 καλεί τις κοινότητες ελεύθερου και ανοιχτού λογισμικού, καθώς και πάσης φύσεως ενδιαφερόμενους, να υποβάλλουν τις προτάσεις τους για ομιλίες και εργαστήρια στο https://fosscomm2018.gr/fs2018. Η επίσημη γλώσσα του συνεδρίου είναι τα Ελληνικά, αλλά φέτος θα δεχτούμε και ομιλίες στα Αγγλικά. Η οργάνωση των ομιλιών του συνεδρίου φέτος θα γίνει σε ενότητες. Για αρχή είμαστε σε συνεννόηση με την Ελληνική κοινότητα του Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) για την διοργάνωση ενότητας security, καθώς και με το Libre Space Foundation (LSF) για την διοργάνωση ενοτήτων space και Software Defined Radio (SDR). It targets programmers, students and anyone else interested in the open source movement, despite their background. The content of the conference includes a wide variety of topics ranging from technical issues and workshops to translations, legal issues, political issues concerning open source software/hardware, etc. It is held on an annual basis since 2008 and till today it has been organized in 6 different cities. Everything is organized and set up by volunteers and financing comes from sponsorships and donations. The organizing committee of FOSSCOMM 2018 calls the Free and Open source communities as well as other interested parties to submit their proposals for talks or workshops at https://fosscomm2018.gr/fs2018. FOSSCOMM's official language is Greek, but this year we also accept submissions in English. This year, the talks of the conference will be organized in tracks. To this end we have made contact with the Greek Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) community who will organize the security track, as well as with the Libre Space Foundation (LSF) for organizing the space and Software Defined Radio (SDR) tracks. We are still figuring out the tracks, so we need your help: when you submit your proposal, please select an appropriate track. Με μεγάλη μας χαρά σας ανακοινώνουμε πως οι εγγραφές για το FOSSCOMM 2017 άνοιξαν. Το Χαροκόπειο Πανεπιστήμιο σε συνεργασία με τον Οργανισμό Ανοιχτών Τεχνολογιών (ΕΕΛΛΑΚ), διοργανώνει το συνέδριο FOSSCOMM 2017 στις 4 και 5 Νοεμβρίου στο κεντρικό κτήριο του πανεπιστημίου. Το συνέδριο απευθύνεται σε φοιτητές, ακαδημαϊκούς-ερευνητές, προγραμματιστές, επιχειρήσεις και κοινότητες που ενδιαφέρονται ή θα ήθελαν να μάθουν για το Ελεύθερο και Ανοικτό Λογισμικό. Η είσοδος είναι ελεύθερη! Είναι ένα από τα σημαντικότερα συνέδρια Πληροφορικής στον τομέα του ανοικτού λογισμικού στην Ελλάδα, στο οποίο κάθε χρόνο συμμετέχουν εκατοντάδες άτομα που ενδιαφέρονται για τις εξελίξεις στην επιστήμη των υπολογιστών κυρίως στον τομέα των ανοιχτών τεχνολογιών. The Fedora Project has an amazing community - its contributors, who connect from all parts of the globe, contribute their time, talent and skills for the benefit of millions of users worldwide. It is with great regret that I have decided to step down, effective immediately, as FAmSCo Member, FAmA Member, Ambassador Mentor, Ambassador and L10N Contributor. I am currently running low on free time. I will be focusing on finishing my undergraduate studies this academic year. Fedora will remain my primary GNU/Linux distribution and operating system. I will continue to advocate for Fedora and free and open-source technologies. I will continue contributing to the Fedora Project, occasionally. Thank you for everything.
