Fwd: [Ngspice-users] ngspice simulation speed
by Chitlesh GOORAH
Hello there,
There is a new FEL ngspice package with represents what Holger
mentioned (see below). Also, it's worth mentioning that this release
also bundles BSIMSOI support for < 130nm designs.
regards,
Chitlesh

Hi all,
there is now an update available in CVS which allows you to set any
simulator variable with an 'option' command, either in spinit or
.spiceinit, or in a control section. Please see the updated manual for
details.

It has been compiled and pushed to both Fedora and EL repositories. It
should be available soon.

FYI, our ngspice package is compiled with xspice enabled

Hi all,
if you have XSPICE enabled during compilation, you will experience a
doubling of time steps (and cpu time) required during transient
simulation compared to spice3f.
This is caused by the value of trtol, which is internally set to 1
(instead of standard 7), if XSPICE is compiled in.
So if you do not use XSPICE devices (named a...) or the poly option in
voltage sources, you might set
.option trtol=7
in your input file and gain a factor of two in speed.
Momentarily there is no way to set this value in spinit or .spiceinit.
Regards
Holger

[fedora-electronic-lab] Release of Gpsim 0.25.0 in what Fedora releases should it be included.
by rrankin@ihug.com.au
The latest release of Gpsim (0.25.0)is now out. The ANNOUNCE file is
included below.
This 0.25.0 release is currently in rawhide which will become F-14. The
question is of F-12, F-13, EL-5 and EL-6 what releases should I make
this version available for. I believe that as EL-6 is not available yet
so it should go in there.
The reason for this question is one person has requested that I not
update releases in Fedora because of use of Gpsim by other programs.
When I suggested that better communication between the developers was a
better solution I got no response from this person. Although I am a
developer of Gpsim, I do not know what the other programs are and what
the issues are.
What do other people think?
Regards,
Roy Rankin
