a fel logo mockup
by Chitlesh GOORAH
Hello there,
This is a mockup for the upcoming "Free Electronic Lab" logo. It needs
lots of effort to make it an official logo. Thus, it may take some
time, till we can get a final version. If not, like the rest of the
FEL, things get improved over time :)
I'll be delighted to receive some comments on it, thus it may help me
get some inspiration )
cheers,

How do I install then run FEL tools from EPEL?
by Robert Peruzzi
How do I install then run FEL tools from EPEL? I'm using RHEL 5.1.19.6. As root I downloaded and installed packages "successfully" with the commands:
# rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch...
and, for instance,
yum install alliance
What do I do next to run alliance (or other tools)? I see all the man pages are gzipped, so I'm guessing and hoping there's some command that not only gunzips them but updates MANPATH and makes me (not root) the owner of the executables and makes them executable.
Or do I have to go write my own script or go through them one by one?
Thanks,
Bob P.

Comment:
I'm giving some thoughts about this. It seems that it is not as simple as
it may seem for us, since we do have to as least try to synthesize the IP
cores with Alliance.
Hence, whatever scripts or makefile which should be in opencores.org-
common should most probably be in fel-common, thereby ensuring[[BR]]
- the IP core compiles with either ghdl or iverilog and waves can be
viewed with GTKwave[[BR]]
- the IP core be synthesized with Alliance[[BR]]
- Magic/Electric should be able to read its GDSII file generated by
Alliance[[BR]]
- A Xcircuit symbol should also be auto-created by some scripts
This will lead to develop additional scripts e.g a script which converts a
Modelsim .do file into a possible .do for GTKwave to load the waves. Many
opencores projects use modelsim and provide modelsim *.do files, we ought
to provide a simple equivalent at least.
I think this opencores.org-common would most probably be renamed into
free-electronic-lab-common, if we are going further in being an opensource
IP provider.

Gwave and emacs-spice-mode
by Arun SAG
Hi,
I maintain emacs-spice-mode for FEL. Emacs spice mode currently requires
gwave, AFAIK gwave isn't available for EL5 yet, this breaks
emacs-spice-mode on EL5. Any pointers on how to go ahead with this package?
