#74: ¿Possible inclusion of Arduino IDE in FEL? -------------------------+-------------------------------------------------- Reporter: q2dg | Owner: chitlesh Type: defect | Status: new Priority: minor | Milestone: Fedora 12 'Constantine' Component: FEL | Version: devel Keywords: Arduino IDE | -------------------------+-------------------------------------------------- Hello everybody.
If you don´t know it, Arduino (http://www.arduino.cc) is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators. The microcontroller on the board is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on GPL Wiring -http://www.wiring.org.co-) and the Arduino development environment (based on GPL/LGPL Processing -http://www.processing.org-). Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer. The boards can be built by hand or purchased preassembled; the software can be downloaded for free. The hardware reference designs (CAD files) are available under an open-source license, you are free to adapt them to your needs (you can see http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Hardware and http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Policy).
I think it would be very nice is Fedora could incorporate Arduino IDE out- of-the-box. You can download it from http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software, and you can see dependencies requirements at http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Learning/Linux (specific intructions for Fedora 11 are written at http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Linux/Fedora)
If you want, you can gather more information from the official web. -Board reference: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Board -Language reference: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/HomePage -Language reference (extended): http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Extended -Code examples: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage -Extra Libraries: http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/Libraries -Other resources: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Links -Projects of the community: http://www.arduino.cc/playground/ -For developing Arduino in deep: http://www.arduino.cc/en/Hacking/HomePage -Forum: http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

{{{ Requirements:

Does any know whether it is compatible with Java OpenJDK that Fedora is shipping ?

What is the relation between Arduino and this?? It´s Arduino, NOT Android. There´s nothing in common!!!

For upstream release 1.0 packaging for distribution is considered (with Makefile or Ant). You can follow the discussions here:
http://arduino.cc/pipermail/developers_arduino.cc/2010-January/002148.html
We will aim to package it for F13, else it will be in F14.

Hello. Any news?

No news, yet. This is still in my backlog. If you would like to package it, you are welcome to do so.
Ok. I've been learning how to make a Fedora package...it's seems not too hard...But now I think it would be better if we wait until they release version 1.0, because there will probably be many changes, overall in the IDE. I think they won't spend many time until they release it...I will watching! See you

It is not very hard.

Yes, I have been following the arduino development mailing list. As soon as we package it, and put it for review, you can test it for us.
We have had a big backlog, and lot of packages that we have been working with.
Thanks again for your patience,
SK
