Hello Julita, I wrote you: "send me the costs and I put these into the proposal" I didn't say in any time that you should create a new page.

I am the initial promoter of this proposal and I'm looking for improve and grow the community, since I showed it to the council and famsco I am looking for a consensus between the ambassadors to improve the objectives and agenda but it seems that you intend to impose your criteria creating a new page without asking to others changing the schedule and other aspects as justification, purpose, goals, etc.

Finally, as Alejandro and echevemaster says, the main idea for this FAD is work in fedora related tasks and offer solutions, I put few talks to help to get free venue within universities or other places but no as users centric event.

Hello LATAM and bex:

I have facilities to celebrate the event in two private universities in Lima such as PUCP and USIL.

Thanks for that.

Based on the prices that you can see on the wiki, I think the best possibility is PUCP.
I dared to include outdoor activities to my guests and also a public event to train new possible contributors in Lima

This is not a user event, this is a Fedora Activity Day, we don't will have talks neither workshops, we will work in fedora related tasks and offer solutions, so, please don't invite people outside to the FAD. We need be focused.

In case the majority of people do not agree, I also present 3 more options because I know that I have to reduce prices for FAD.

Please remove one of the wiki pages, this could be lead to misunderstandings

Please feel free to comment and tell me how to make it better to everyone.

Thanks for offering yourself for be one of the FAD organisers along with Alex y Tonet, I'm sure you guys will do great, just join efforts and keep the communication to be on the same page.

Thanks,
Julita

It is OK that Tonet could be the Peru representative.

Good night, Yulytas, the actual proposal for Cusco is expensive, the council and famsco recomend evaluate the posibility to change the place to Lima (the airfares can be cheaper but the hotel and food will be more expensive than Cusco) for that reason We need your help to get the prices to do this evaluation.

About your second question, We need a one representative by country, specially an influential and active ambassador. I choosed to Tonet because he is an active ambassador, organized a FUDCon and has more badges in Peru. You can participate like observer, I will participate as helper only.

Ok Alejandro, Bex and Lucena.
I have seen recently the link that Alex just gave me http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD:Cusco2017
It seems that everything is already arranged, including topics and costs.
In that case I do not see why I have to arrange a FAD in USIL.
Can I add my name on it to participate on July?

Thanks,
Julita

Hello all, I think is a good moment to clarify some things.

I looked some FAD pages and it's true that these activities hasn't a promotional component (talks or workshops) but in this proposal I included a small part of talks to interact with users and students. The second purpose is to have the possibility of negotiations with a dean or academic coordinator to get a free or cheap venue for the ambassadors work and talks to users.

The talks hours are smaller than the other activities that are important.

Hi Julita,

Normally FAD's do not have a promotion event. There has been two times where FAD budgets where requested and deny because they contain some promotional event or time. That is why I want to make sure you understand the limitation on FAD. It is not up to me to decide if the event will be approve, therefore my intention is to consider the possibility of no promotional event.

I don't don't know this history, but wearing my council hat, I can't see why a promotion component would lead to automatic denial.

However, I would want to understand how this compent was good for LATAM or the country or the city. I'd want to know how it ties to the mission, if appropriate. I'd want to know how it will be followed up or prepared for to ensure positive impact.

However, my biggest concern would be that it be clear this promotion won't prevent the rest of the FAD from accomplishing its goals.

Regards,

bex

How ever you can do packaging workshops or translation sprint (as example) with people that are already familiar with Fedora and want to become contributors.

This may work better with the FAD proposal, specially if you have some people prepare for that.

Hi Alejandro

What I followed so far (please correct me in case I am wrong), is that I could arrange in Lima a place with facilities as labs with good Internet connection, searching hotels and restaurants  for at least 7 ambassadors from LATAM (I do not know exactly who is invited yet).

I am also aware about the purspose of the meeting: to state some procedures face to face in order to have a better Fedora community.

I mentioned the coliseum as part of the event (two hours for the first day) because as you know I do per year at least five or six events to promote Fedora and still people in Lima, we have a low percentage of knowledge about Linux. And, because I can not go everywhere all the time to do more workshops (because I also need to work), I did a free online tutorial of Fedora to everyone in Backtrackacademy. [01]

I "though" that it could be great if I have the honour to have all of you in Lima (Ambassadors with expertise in Fedora) I could do one public event day with all of you as speakers and trainers that can teach my local people to do real contributions as packaging, translations, wiki manteiners, among other activities.

The coliseum could be useful for the first two hours (for install activities to everyone in Lima who is intersted in having Fedora).
Please believe me, if this activity is so simple for most of us, for newbies is a challenge in case they have Wifi problems and other technician issue that I know can happen.

The second day (this plan is still in my head) we can do more private meetings to set up (with a better view from the previous day) the actions and plans to have a better community.

I know that before I have you online in my events but it is not the same to have a face to face training or talk to somebody in person.
In this sense, I will always appreciate the labor of Neville, because he is always available anytime to response with a online talk to my people in Lima.

Please let me know if Fedora still want me to do that event in USIL, Lima, Peru in July to present a formal plan to the authorities.

Best,
Julita

Julita,

Keep in mind this is a FAD it is dedicated to Fedora Contributors (or interested parties) , to get together and produce some results, not a promotional event, because of that it will be some sort of close meeting, event do out side people are welcome cannot be a massive event with talks.

Hello Brian and ambassadors!

I work in USIL, it is a private university and because all the events I do, I have some contacts.

I have talk with the authorities at USIL to get a coliseum, labs and auditorium.

I need dates and I also arranging a plan to follow since installation until Fedora workshops.
I am going to check prices around for hotels and food.

Please give me at least three days to do it :)
Thanks,
Julita

Cool. I'm. It suggesting a specific place so anywhere appropriate and easy to fly to is great.

As a non-Spanish speaker I don't follow the Spanish discussions :). This is also A-OK :)

Hello Brian, in the last meeting I requested someone to propose another place inside or outside Peru to get a suitable venue (and assume the logistic, auditorium, hotel, etc), but anybody propose any place but I will to wait until tomorrow night.

If you want to change the place, I can talk with ambassadors from Lima (specially with bernardoha) I think he can get a suitable place. The costs will decrease in at least 60 dollars by person.
Regards.

Good morning, as some of you know, I was working on a proposal to carry out an organizational FAD in Cusco City, this proposal was reviewed by some people as robyduck and bex then was presented to the council giving a relative positive result, but the proposal needs some improvements specially in the following terms:

- Improvement of the agenda and to establish the clear objectives.
- Incorporate the ideas of FAMSco regarding the organization of ambassadors and related topics.

Regarding the proposal itself, it can be reviewed at the following link: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD:Cusco2017

As can be read, the FAD proposes to solve several problems like organizative, budgetary, strategic and logistical so help us to be more efficient and effective.

About the participants, I considered an ambassador for each country that is active and / or influential in their country, so that she/he can replicate (transmit) the agreements of the other collaborators of their countries. If the ambassadors of some country consider that they can be represented by another person we can change their representative :-)

About the dates, at first I put for the month of June but not bex hasn't free time to attend the FAD and decided to change for the month of July (13, 14 and 15) because in those days bex has time.

About the place, I consulted with the ambassadors of Peru about the place and we chosen Cusco as the venue, if there is any other proposal to change the place (inside or outside of Peru) the interested people must commit to get an suitable place to the meetings, talks and accomodation.

With regards to place, I believe Itamar suggested in the FAmSCo meeting that choosing a different city might result in lower costs (especially for airfare).  I think Lima was suggested.  I agree we need to have someone who is willing to own finding the place to meet in whatever city we choose.  I second the call for someone to stand up and champion this if we can save the money reasonably.

Overall, this email is well stated and I hope there will be good conversation in LATAM about this.

regards,

bex

* In summary, the FAD proposal can be improved in all its aspects, therefore I request support to improve it and to have it approved so that we can improve and grow the community. *

PS: Sorry for this big email

Greetings and thanks in advance.
