I recently received a request to update spatialindex in EPEL6 to 1.7.1 or greater (it's currently 1.6.1). I know that the update policy is that updates like this aren't supposed to be done ( http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Updates_Policy#Stable_Releases ), but what's the current thinking on this?
