I was just wonder what the status is here? Does epylog still function on modern-ish python versions? 2.7? 3.X?
Well, I just did "yum install epylog ; epylog --last day" on a Fedora 14 system (python 2.7), and it seemed to function as expected.
The main thing that I'm aware of that could use some serious love is the weed_dist.cf file. Lot of syslog messages have changed since that file was last updated, and it was never very extensive to begin with. Starting out with a more useful set of obvious filters could make this a much more useful tool for admins.
Hrm, would be kinda cool if a bunch of us heavy users could submit our weed_local.cf files to a central location, run some sort of comparison script on them, and any patterns that appear in more than N% of them could be considered for addition to weed_dist.cf in an updated release.
Just dreamin' out loud... :)

Why not post them to the list or on the epylog trac wiki
