Bug ID: 1357510
Summary: Erlang Port Mapper Daemon Activation Socket fails to
start
Product: Fedora
Version: 24
Component: erlang
Assignee: lemenkov(a)gmail.com
Reporter: zboszor(a)pr.hu
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: erlang(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, jeckersb(a)redhat.com,
lemenkov(a)gmail.com, rhbugs(a)n-dimensional.de, s(a)shk.io
External Bug ID: Red Hat Bugzilla 1293128
Description of problem:
I was trying to enable SSL in rabbitmq-server but it requires epmd to run.
SELinux prevents epmd to start.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
erlang-18.3.4-1.fc24.x86_64
erlang-erts-18.3.4-1.fc24.x86_64
selinux-policy-targeted-3.13.1-191.fc24.3.noarch
How reproducible:
Always.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install rabbitmq-server
2. systemctl enable epmd.socket epmd.service rabbitmq-server
3. configure SSL options in /etc/rabbitmq/rabbitmq.config
4. reboot
Actual results:
epmd.service has a dependency on epmd.socket but it cannot be activated:
audit[1]: AVC avc: denied { create } for pid=1 comm="systemd"
scontext=system_u:system_r:init_t:s0
tcontext=system_u:system_r:unconfined_service_t:s0 tclass=tcp_socket
permissive=0
There is no setsebool toggle to allow systemd to open TCP sockets.
Expected results:
EPMD daemon should be able to start without socket activation.
Additional info:
After changing the epmd.service to not require systemd socket activation
with this patch below, but #1293128 occurs:
audit[7686]: AVC avc: denied { name_connect } for pid=7686 comm="epmd"
dest=4369 scontext=system_u:system_r:init_t:s0
tcontext=system_u:object_r:epmd_port_t:s0 tclass=tcp_socket permissive=0
The patch is:
--- epmd.service.orig 2016-07-18 13:55:26.584086294 +0200
+++ epmd.service 2016-07-18 13:57:40.336416375 +0200

The Emacs add-on packaging guidelines no longer stipulate that packages which
also bundle support for Emacs should split out those Emacs files into separate
sub-packages. This package should instead ship those files with the main
package which should also Require emacs-filesystem. See
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Emacs for more detail.

Description of problem:
erlang-jinterface do not provides maven metadata, which used by some projects
e.g. https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-amqp/ (spring-erlang sub module)
The pom file is available but is not installed
https://github.com/erlang/otp/blob/maint/lib/jinterface/java_src/pom.xml.srchttps://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Java#Maven_pom.xml_files
and the JAR file should be placed in %_javadir

The spec file "should be" modified in this way:
%if %{?fedora} >= 21
BuildRequires: javapackages-local
%else

%endif
jinterface_lib_dir="$(ls -d1 $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_libdir}/erlang/lib/jinterface-*/

rm -rf "${jinterface_lib_dir}priv/OtpErlang.jar"
if the pom file is not processed
sed 's/%VSN%/%{version}/' <otp/lib/jinterface/java_src/pom.xml.src >pom.xml
generates maven metadata
%mvn_artifact [path of the processed pom file]/pom.xml [path of the built java

Starting with erlang-erts-R16B-03.10min.6.el7ost.x86_64, the log handler
repeatedly crashes and fills up the rabbitmq startup_log with entries like:
Event crashed log handler:
{info_msg,<0.1719.0>,
{<0.1832.0>,"Mirrored ~s: Adding mirror on node ~p: ~p~n",

'rabbit@overcloud-controller-1',<6192.10668.1>]}}
function_clause
Meanwhile the rabbitmq log is empty.
Looks like a regression introduced in the "Enable error_logger depth fine
tuning" patch.

Depends On: 1393643
External Bug ID: Github processone/ejabberd/issues/1375
Description of problem:
Currently, ejabberdctl is launched by systemd with /usr/bin/bash instead of
being launched directly. This causes the process to run in the initrc_t context
which is very permissive. Instead, systemd should launch ejabberdctl directly.
However, there are two blockers to getting this change done and working, as we
get these AVC denials with this change in place:
type=AVC msg=audit(1478751171.862:648): avc: denied { write } for pid=2989
comm="async_2" name="ejabberd.pem" dev="dm-1" ino=44546
scontext=system_u:system_r:rabbitmq_t:s0
tcontext=unconfined_u:object_r:etc_t:s0 tclass=file permissive=0
type=AVC msg=audit(1478751171.863:649): avc: denied { write } for pid=2989
comm="async_2" name="ejabberd.pem" dev="dm-1" ino=44546
scontext=system_u:system_r:rabbitmq_t:s0
tcontext=unconfined_u:object_r:etc_t:s0 tclass=file permissive=0
type=AVC msg=audit(1478751171.865:650): avc: denied { name_bind } for
pid=2986 comm="beam" src=5349 scontext=system_u:system_r:rabbitmq_t:s0
tcontext=system_u:object_r:unreserved_port_t:s0 tclass=tcp_socket permissive=0
I've filed a bug upstream to request that they stop trying to open the certfile
in write mode[0], and I've filed a bug against selinux-policy to request that
ejabberd be allowed to use tcp port 5349[1]. Once both of those bugs are fixed,
we can proceed with dropping /usr/bin/bash presuming that we don't then hit
further AVC denials (which could happen).

noarch_libs.patch
Description of problem:
As part of a change for Fedora 27, I have written a patch for the erlang spec
file that will modify the Erlang VM to also search in /usr/share/erlang/lib for
noarch libs. I am attaching a patch I wrote that uses sed in the spec file to
append this new path just before the archful libs in the search path.
I have tested this patch with ejabberd by moving one of its dependencies
(p1_utils) into the new /usr/share/erlang/lib. Without this patch ejabberd
fails to start, but with the patch it starts up successfully.
Once we have this patch applied, we just need to modify the RPM macros to use
the new path for noarch packages and we'll have the change completed.

Summary: erlang should support noarch packages being installed

lemenkov(a)gmail.com, rhbugs(a)n-dimensional.de, s(a)shk.io
Description of problem:
Currently, all Erlang libraries are installed into /usr/lib64/erlang/lib/ on
x86_64 systems, regardless of whether they have any arch-dependent code. This
causes rpmlint errors, and also causes longer build times for pure-Erlang
packages.
We should adjust Erlang path searching setting so that noarch libraries can be
installed to /usr/lib/erlang/lib/ so they can officially become noarch
packages.

The epam binary needs to be installed setuid root so that it can read
/etc/shadow for pam authentication. This is documented upstream at
https://docs.ejabberd.im/admin/guide/configuration/#pam-authentication. The
version of ejabberd distributed with Fedora 22 and Fedora 23 had a patch to
install this binary this way, but that patch was dropped when we released
Fedora 24.
