Just throwing out an idea, perhaps we could use the Fedora Join SIG
(fedora-join) FAS group to help bring new contributors into the project, and then they could be removed once they are sponsored into another group, if they are verified to be a human.
CCing the Join list on this one too.

Hello Justin,
are you guessing a sort of "tutoring"? This was the idea when I thought at my talk for the Flock in Rochester.
I still think this is the only way for gathering people and leading them to a project contribution.
In that case, of course, we need to get help from other groups (from mentors?).
Let's discuss in Krakow. Of course we have to think on how get in touch with the upcoming hubs.

I think we've discussed "mentoring" before and I wouldn't discuss it again until we have a detailed implementation plan set out. It can mean different things so we need to be sure we're clear on what we're talking about.
What I've always had in mind was getting more existing contributors to the join ML/fas group and just making it an informal joint where they can meet newbies and vice versa - we sort of need to market the join sig in two ways for this: 1 - newbies! come join us! we're here to help! 2 - contributors! come join us! loadsa newbies waiting to contribute to your work!

Yea, we need to encourage existing contributors to hang out and speak to newbies - they don't have to be mentors or group leaders or anything at all.

That'll be awesome - do let us know what you guys come up with. I'm not going to make it to flock again. I can barely just keep up with my packages at the moment :(
I remember we'd talked about having monthly "join meetings" where we'd get contributors and newbies together - was probably my responsibility seeing as we haven't had a single one. Sorry :( - -- Thanks, Regards, Ankur Sinha "FranciscoD"
