Hello,
I'm interested in contributing to Fedora and would like to introduce myself. My name is Youssef. My Fedora account username is humanamerican and my Matrix username is @eusseph:matrix.org. I started using Linux in college and by now am a Fedora daily driver. I have experience in Linux sys admin, technical documentation writing, and software development. Other interests include space, history, urbanism, buffalo wings, and craft beer. I also have plenty of experience volunteering for non-profits and currently serve on the board of an organization in my neighborhood.
I love FOSS and always try to find FOSS solutions before using proprietary software. However, aside from helping people out in forums, I have yet to contribute to a FOSS project. Being that I use Fedora every day, I figured it would be a good place to start. I'm always down to learn something new so I think I could contribute pretty much anywhere that more hands are needed, with the exception of graphic design (unless you want lots of stick figures).
I'd like to contribute about 5 hours a week to start and see where that takes me.
Thanks for reading my intro. I welcome all suggestions for a good "first contribution" to get my feet wet.
Best,
Youssef
Welcome to Fedora, Youssef!
My suggestion is, join Matrix channels of SiGs that might interest you. If you see things that are needed, submit PRs. In time, people will get to know you, and you may be offered a spot in the SIG! :)
That's how I'd do it anyway. This is the official Fedora docs article on how to do it: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/join/
