Hi everyone! My name is Konstantinos Vasilopoulos, I have a BSc in Computer Science and I am currently studying for my Master's in Computer Science.
I've been using Linux (Pop!_OS) for the past few years and I've recently switched to Fedora as my main distribution. I love Linux and I would like to take my first steps into FOSS contributing by joining the Fedora community. I am particularly interested in the dynamics behind Open Source software — how different people collaborate, review contributions, and agree on how to move forward. I've contributed to Open Source software before through some GitHub PRs, specifically writing code for command-line utilities and ORM tools in Rust.
My background is in data engineering. I have mostly worked with the Databricks platform on Azure; I am comfortable with Apache Spark, Kafka, ETL pipelines, etc. I'm also comfortable with the command line, git and general software tooling. Rust is my main interest as of now and I'd love to contribute wherever those skills are useful — whether that's code, packaging, testing, or anything else the community needs a hand with.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Welcome Konstantinos,
Each team in Fedora has different ways of working together. As a first step, find their Matrix channel and ask that question there. Usually it will go through to a ticket tracker or a meeting, and a group consensus will be made.
Come and hang out in Join channel, and we can discuss further, or we can help you find the teams you want to be part of.
Regards, MatH
