Flock Scheduling questions
by Tom Callaway
Hi folks,
Last year, we had:
67 speakers (for talks and workshops).
3 keynotes (2 + FPL)
34 talks across two days (five simultaneous tracks)
24 workshops across two days (four tracks)
In 2016, we have the same amount of days (4), but I wanted to open it
for discussion for changes to the scheduling and layout.
Do we want less tracks? Less talks? Less workshops per day?
Do we still want the keynotes in the mornings? Traditionally, we've
focused on bringing in external keynote speakers, but we had a lot of
difficulty doing this the last time we were in Europe. (It is also
unclear who is responsible for handling keynotes this year, as it was my
job in previous years.)
Also, it seems unclear to me when the CFP closes (it is open now).
Paul, Matt, Remy, Jen, Joe, I'm looking at you to drive answers to these
questions.
We have at least one sponsor considering providing "speaker gifts", but
we need to tell them how many speakers we expect to have.

Web site updates
by Paul W. Frields
I've updated the http://flocktofedora.org website with the following
information:
* Initial CFP deadline of April 8, 2016
* Sponsor prospectus (thank you Spot!)
* Lodging form for the hotel (thank you Bex!)
I think we may want to relay this info out to the Fedora community as
well. I can put together an email to the announce@ list if you guys
agree.

SUGGESTED TEXT (feel free to mercilessly edit):
As previously announced, the annual Flock conference for Fedora
contributors will take place August 2-5, 2016 in Krakow, Poland.
Registration is now open at <https://flocktofedora.org>.
The call for papers is also open, and contributors may submit at the
same registration site. The deadline for call for paper submissions
is Friday, April 8, 2016.
The hotel venue information is also found at the web site, under
"Location." Although the hotel does not currently offer an online
booking code, a booking/registration form is available for download.
Instructions are on the web site.

Confusion on Registration
by Brian Exelbierd
I got an email from someone who couldn't figure out to register using
their FAS ID. The Persona system doesn't make it obvious that you have
to use <fas>@fedoraproject.org as the email address, even if that is an
email address you don't normally think of as yours.
Perhaps we could clean this up?
Thank you.

Pre-Flock Krakow planning warning
by Ruth Suehle
If you've already been thinking, "Hey, I should come to Krakow early and
check it out," fair warning:
July 25–31, 2016 is Catholic World Youth Day with the pope. That doesn't
sound so crazy if you've never heard of it. But the last few years have
attracted more than 1 million visitors each year. And this one is in honor
of Pope John Paul II, who called Krakow home. I suspect it will be huge.
If you still want to be in town those days, you should probably book a room
yesterday.

As far as I know the procedure is to send it, and then comment in
#fedora-admin that you've done so, and someone with permissions to ack
it will.
There might be a better way, but that's what I always do.

Go for it -- and thanks!

FWIW, I'm +1 to basically reprint the F-Mag article here (+1 also on
community thanks section). I pinged mattdm to look at it too since he
and I are in the same place right now.
