- Most Americans will not want to travel around Thanksgiving
- Travel costs in the US go up significantly around Thanksgiving

That is true. I figured it was a less extreme thought than having FLOCK moved to 2017 and worked with FOSDEM or devconf.
It does cut out one week (or 2 depending on when the week starts) from the November month for when FLOCK could occur.
