So, just out of curiosity, how is the planning committee being selected this year?

We once tried having a committee selected from FAmSCo and FESCo. We've also tried just having regular meetings. TBH, no matter what we've tried, Tom and Josh and I were doing most of it, so we just keep doing it, and when anybody else want to help, they're always welcome to help.
This year we're fortunate that a)we all speak the language of the country we're in, so that helps, and b)we have a lot of support on-site. Doing it in a hotel means we have the hotel's convention planner. We also have the Rochester CVB helping. And we've just hired Remy onto my team, who came from RIT, so he knows the area and situation well, and we've hired an events person to support things OSAS does. So we're actually far better supported than we ever have been before!
Which is not to say that if there's something anyone would like to help with that they shouldn't. Like this week I asked for help with the website. Paul's been working on it, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind handing it over to somebody with the time to invest! :-)

I would of course being willing to do whatever is required - if someone needs a specific task done (even if that task is figuring out what tasks need to be done :D), I'd be more than happy to help. It does seem like you, Tom, and Josh have an overwhelming burden to deal with - but with Remy and the events person in OSAS on board, it does seem that you have more support than in the past. However, as always shout if anything is needed.

/me is watching this thread intently, as I'm sure that anything that goes wrong with FLOCK this will certainly (and rightfully) be all my fault ;)
Srsly though, I'm *so* excited for FLOCKchester, but since I'm still 'drinking from the firehose' as a new hire, I've been avoiding asking for more details on this, and waiting for it to naturally crop up in my inbox (hence today's reply.)
If we're lucky, the MAGIC center at RIT will also hire a Remy-replacement before Flock that will help support "from the inside" too (fingers crossed.)
Is there a standard planning/organizing timeline somewhere? A Regular meeting schedule? This is my first time being more than just a FLOCK attendee, so please bear with me if these are obvious questions. Once I've got a timeline and calendar, I can start coordinating a "ground crew" here in the ROC to help. I've already been making FLOCKchester save-the-date annoucements at meetups and hackathons in and out of town.
Thanks! --RemyD.

We're pretty much down to booking the evening events, which I usually hold off on signing for until we have an idea of how much we're trying to subsidize travel since I'd rather pay for people to come than people to party. CFP is open through April 12, at which point we'll get a better idea of that.

Hey, the party is important too :D
Mostly kidding, since I'd rather pay for more people to come as well - the more the merrier. But the party (whatever it might be, however low-key) is an important thing. One thing that I liked at FUDCon Lawrence was the gaming night (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Lawrence_2013#Friday_night_gaming) which is basically free (except any venue and minimal food costs).

I liked that too. Especially the cupcakes. :-) IIRC, we did it as a "night before" thing for whomever was around. Maybe we could resurrect that for the night of the 11th. We have some really awesome possibilities for the other nights!

Great idea! It's a wonderful way to get acquainted with people we don't know personally yet.

I like it. (I liked it when we came up with it for Lawrence too. ;) )

Hi, couldn't we setup a wiki page that would list task that have to be done with little info about what is required from the person to be able to fulfill the task (e.g. when physical presence is required, or if it can be done remotely)?
I believe there are lots of folks wanting to help if they would know what to do (me included).

Can I summarize how this conversation feels to me right now?
"I'd like to help!"
Me: "Like I said yesterday, we could really use help on the website."
"We'd love to help!"
Me: "We have a great group of support this year, which is awesome. But again, the website really needs work."
"Can we make a list of things that need to be done?"

We're good right now, but I promise I will let the list know if that changes.

Hi Ruth, so we will work for a new theme for next year, right? If it's just to fix the errors (I saw some too) in the actual theme I could help you, but I'm not sure about sponsors and other items which were for 2014 and should be updated too. Feel free to ping or email me if you like to give me access, I can also coordinate with Paul if he has more info. See you.

As the backup for Christoph as representative for FAmSCo last Flock(s), I am willing to help this too. FAmSCo will have a meeting next week and we will decide the person/group to support Flock this year.
