That's the only way to make sure our font building infra is sane and we will be able to use it the day someone needs a fix in the font files and upstream is busy somewhere else. (and that also makes sure Fedora is something upstream can rely on should it need to). It is really a PITA that the redhat-rpm-config packaging changes needed to fix this properly have been stuck in nitpicking stage since october. https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/redhat-rpm-config/pull-request/51 I have lots of font packages to push Fedora side waiting for it (stix2 and droid are two other core font packages in need of an update). https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/nim/fonts-rpm-macros/packages/ (not 100% ready to push but almost finished, and I'd be more motivated to finish them if I was not waiting for the redhat-rpm-config merge) As for math fonts they are becoming more common and I'm coming to the conclusion that they should be treated just like another script extension and be transparently merged with the main family (droid has examples of such merging). Though since they are very new upstream forgets to document what their main family should be (is it DejaVu Sans or Serif? Probably Serif, but I need to check it some more). And you have examples like https://greekfontsociety-gfs.gr/typefaces/Math with clear as mud explanations. Thus your bumping is nice and welcome short term but we need a more thorough refresh, to fix math, appstream and flatpack aspects, and to have a solid set of packages that can be used as clean reference for other people packaging fonts in the distro. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The font packaging guidelines say we SHOULD build from source if possible [1]. Any particular reason not to follow that? (The upstream Makefile is not very well suited for Fedora, but I can engage with upstream if anything could be improved).
