Could you please stop this throwing blame around?
I’m not throwing blame around. I’m explaining why bitmap fonts and PS1 stopped
being supported by Pango, and why it is the result of a multi-year dev effort
that can not be easily reverted.
You want a magical instant fix-all solution. I don't have one to propose. No
one has one to propose. There is no magic instant fix-all solution except
converting fonts using existing tools, and adjusting the result by hand when
it’s wrong (and improving tools so there is less need to do manual
adjustments).
Michael J Gruber messages are quite representative, on why this work got
delayed till the rug was pulled under legacy formats.
