Description of problem:

fonttosfnt needs a few fixes and improvements from upstream
    and maybe upstream's pull requests to properly generate
    *.otb files from legacy bitmap font files.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

xorg-x11-font-utils-7.5-42.fc31.x86_64

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:

1. fonttosfnt -b -c -g 2 -m 2 -o terminusn.otb ter-u*n.bdf

Actual results:

Weird spacing with the *.otb font.

Expected results:

Proper spacing with the *.otb font.

As to the pull requests for using fonttosfnt for converting bitmap fonts to
*.otb:

So there appear to be 5 merge requests related to using fonttosfnt for bitmap
font conversion to OpenType bitmaps in total, and all but
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/fonttosfnt/merge_requests/2 have been
merged upstream.

Some other issues might come up after the time I am writing this, but as of
right now, this bug would be solved if all of the above merge requests have
ended up in Fedora's fonttosfnt utility.
