Is there any precedent here? Like a Punjabi version of "How quickly daft jumping zebras vex" that shows off the majority of the glyphs?
Yes, I saw that, but it doesn't seem to map the locale to the string, just some languages. I figured (hoped) there'd be some kind of wiki page with locale -> example text.

Yeah, it seemed that we don't have many resources about that so far.
Maybe create a new one by asking l10n group for help?

I'm happy to coldplug this, it's me who needs the data afterall -- which mailing list should I ask on? Thanks.
Richard.

Thanks, I'll do that in a few minutes. This is what I've set up to coldplug things, as 10 people all trying to edit a wiki at the same time is a recipe for disaster: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtzJKpbiGX1zdDlMVV9EM2d4TmZZNzR...
I'd be grateful for any help and feedback. Thanks.

Pango's is LGPL'ed and copying is welcome. I may move it to its own copy-only project on github.
