U.S. Census Data Workshops
RIT Libraries will host a series of workshops to help you access, search, and
map U.S. Census data. All workshops will be held on on April 10, 2019 in the
Bib Lab, located on the 3rd floor of Wallace Library.
Navigating American Fact Finder
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Discover the richness of data from the United States Census Bureau. An expert
from the Bureau will guide you through American Fact Finder, the primary
gateway to government statistics on people, housing, businesses and industries.
Whether you are a researcher seeking data or curious about the makeup of the
United States, join RIT Libraries for an overview of available data along with
guidance on navigating, searching and retrieving data sets.

Having trouble retrieving Census data? Stop by this Open Lab for expert
assistance.
David J. Kraiker is a Data Dissemination Specialist with the New York Regional
Office of the Census Bureau. He will be available to coach you through your
specific Census-related challenge or inquiry.
Working with Census Data and Cartographic Visualizations
Noon - 1:00 p.m.
Once you have Census data, what can you do with it?
One possibility is creating cartographic visuals. This advanced session will
show attendees how to extract Census data for the purpose of creating
cartographic visualizations, as well as some of the built-in mapping tools
available through American Fact Finder. Familiarity with American Fact Finder
is recommended.
