Hi folks!
The Spring semester FOSS courses are...
IGME 582, Humanitarian FOSS Development. This course is for those new
to, and curious about, Open Source. It’s also open to folks with FOSS
experience who want to learn more about humanitarian hacking and FOSS.
The final project is to build educational games for the Sugar Labs/OLPC
schools around the world. It’s offered MWF 9:00-9:50 in the new
building, MSS-2175
and…
IGME 585, Project in FOSS Development. This course is for those who have
experience in contributing to FOSS projects. In this course you can
continue to contribute to projects you're already working in, get
involved in a new FOSS community you’ve been curious about, or pilot a
new one of your own. The course will have you research and evaluate
FOSS communities and then set up a contribution cycle and set of goals.
t’s offered TR 2:00-3:15 in the new building, MSS 3110
If you’re a non major interested in either or both courses (you can take
them simultaneously) you may have to email Professor Stephen Jacobs
(sj(a)magic.rit.edu) and ask Beth Livecchi(bmlpsn(a)rit.edu) to ask
permission to be added to the class. Feel free to email Prof Jacobs with
questions as well.
