Hey FOSS folk. This popped into my email and I thought it might be useful for others too. RIT is organizing a financial wellness conference with all kinds of helpful presentations and workshops to better understand your money, student loans, investing, and more.
Not strictly related to FOSS, but since many of us are students, I thought it may be helpful. I'll be there. :-)

RIT Student Affairs and Student Government is excited to offer a */FREE/* Financial Wellness Conference as part of National Financial Literacy Month on *Sunday, April 8th from 1-5pm in Thomas Gosnell Hall*. The goal of this conference is to raise awareness about the importance of financial wellness/financial literacy. Simply put, financial literacy is the ability to understand how money works: how someone makes, manages and invests it. To understand money and how it works, it’s important to understand common financial principles such as budgeting, saving, credit, investments, as well as making sense of job offers, negotiating salary, and protecting your assets. Your level of financial literacy affects your quality of life significantly. It affects your ability to provide for yourself and family, your attitude towards money and investment, as well as your contribution to your community. Financial literacy enables people to understand what is needed to achieve a lifestyle that is financially balanced, sustainable, ethical and responsible.
The conference will kick off with a keynote address by *retired U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, John C.* *Ninfo* who will share his perspective on why its critically important to increase your financial IQ in order to avoid 8 out of the top 14 stressors in life; defend yourself against many in the financial industry; get the best value for every one of your hard earned dollars; and avoid debt and all that interest as much as possible.
Attendees will also be able to select up to three, 50 minute sessions on a variety of financial literacy topics mentioned above.
· This FREE conference has been designed and developed specifically for /currently enrolled RIT students/. Space is limited to 248 registrants.
· The priority registration deadline for RIT students is *Monday, March 26, 2018.* (If space is still available after that date, registration will be open to the greater Rochester community, including RIT alumni)
· Interpreting services available on request and subject to availability.
