Hi,
I have a FreeIPA on a VM that I use for testing. I had to take a pause on my work with it, and after a few months, when I turn on the machine, FreeIPA won’t start. I get this error:

This is weird, can you help me to get it back to a usable state?
It's hard to say exactly with no version or distro information but it sure like whole packages may be missing, or the contents removed. python3-ipaserver in particular.
If you're on an rpm-based distro I'd start with rpm -V -a to validate all system packages. IPA may not be alone. I don't know what the equivalent is with apt.
Or you can try reinstalling the python3-ipaserver package, e.g. dnf reinstall python3-ipaserver.
If more than just this package are messed up validating all packages will help avoid a whack-a-mole situation where fixing one problem reveals another.
I can't explain how an entire directory disappeared but you might want to check the filesystem as well.

Sorry, my bad. It is a Fedora release 37.
If you're on an rpm-based distro I'd start with rpm -V -a to validate all system packages. IPA may not be alone. I don't know what the equivalent is with apt.
It is missing the __pycache__ folders, according the the command missing /usr/lib/python3.11/site-packages/ipaserver/plugins/__pycache__ (And lots of files under the __pycache__ folder.
Or you can try reinstalling the python3-ipaserver package, e.g. dnf reinstall python3-ipaserver.
I did, but it still complains about some files missing from that folder. It also complains about a plugin I thought I removed (missing /usr/lib/python3.11/site-packages/ipaserver/plugins/mailserver.py)
If more than just this package are messed up validating all packages will help avoid a whack-a-mole situation where fixing one problem reveals another.

It’s been so long since I touched this, that maybe I should just reinstall the whole thing on calm day. At least I got the js and the py files of my plugin, plus some ldifs. :D
