* What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD.)
o Air ticket from Curitiba, Brazil to Phoenix (Round-Trip).
Cost: ~$1,570.00 from American Airlines.
* Will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No)
o Yes. I can share a room with other people and paid half of
diary of room.
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific
as possible.)
o I intend to participate specially for learning how we can
internationalize more the Fedora KDE Spin, like add other languages and
create a kdm login with a option do select that. And apply all solutions
founded in the Fedora 15 version. I have been working on the new layout of
your website, forum and wiki and like the international project is working
in new website layouts for fedoracommunity.org, so it will be a great
opportunity to get together with other folks and create value for our
Fedora Infrastructure in Brazil. I intend to run an Fedora Remix hackfest
in order to demonstrate how it happens and why in the Latam context.
* If your request is for an airfare, please include complete flight
information -- either flight numbers, or desired departure and arrival
locations, dates, and times.
o This can be quite flexible for me. But probable flight
information is here:
o From Curitiba (CWB) to Phoenix (PHX) - depart: Jan. 27, 2011
7:40 p.m. - arrive: Jan. 28, 2011 9:50 a.m. (Fly Number: 8048)
o From Phoenix (PHX) to Curitiba (CWB - depart: Feb. 1, 2011
2:10 p.m. - arrive: Feb. 2, 2011 1:25 p.m. (Fly Number: 2011)
* Include any additional, relevant information.
o Getting a visa might take 60-90 days and I will need a letter
of recommendation.

Tell us the following:
* What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X,
travel $Y)
Hotel: $338 for two nights at the primary hotel (no group discount
available anymore).. seems quite expensive, open to any cheap close
alternative.
Travel: $280-$300ish. Looks like no matter what, I'll have to switch to
another plane half way through, both ways.
* If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful?
(Yes/No)
Possibly, though money is very tight, and I don't know if that's going to
change by January.
* If Yes can you specify the minimum amount you would need covered to
facilitate your attendance
--
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as

I work with the Infrastructure team near-daily, and really enjoy it. I
would love to meet and collaborate with the people that I work with on
IRC, and as well as learn more about the future of the Fedora project,
talk with other users and developers of the project, and have a fun time
hacking on code at the hackfest :)
* If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such
as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also
let us know if you have specific time restrictions.
I'll have to leave from CAK on Friday night (after class). As mentioned
above, I'll have to switch to another plane half way through. I don't see
a direct flight, in the search results. I'll need to be back to CAK by
early monday morning (I'm fine with (and prefer) overnight travel) for
class.
* Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend
FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?
Nope, I'm a US Citizen, born and raised. :)
* Include any additional, relevant information.
Don't know what else I should say. I'd love if I could be funded/sponsored
to the conference, and meet the people I work with daily. Either way, I'd
like to thank the Fedora project for considering me :)

No.
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as

Besides the obvious "meeting people", I plan to give two (or more, if
there's demand ;-) ) talks. I'd like to give a talk on usability, since in
January I will also finish my internship and I hope to share some of my
findings and best practices. I'd also like to give one or more about
general design / artwork in Fedora. I'll discuss the details on that with
Mo and the rest of the Design Team though.
I'll also give me the chance to participate in (design) brainstorms. For
instance I heard there will be one about the new Anaconda UX, which I'd
like to attend to give some input. Another things is GNOME Shell, I'd like
to discuss how the Design Team will deal with that.
* If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such

This is the cheapest one I found, with United Airlines:
Fr 28-jan-11: Flights 3203+3439: Amsterdam (AMS) 13:20 -> Newark (EWR)
16:05-17:20 -> Phoenix (PHX) 20:49
Tu 01-feb-11: Flights 3731+3318: Phoenix (PHX) 11:05 -> Houston (IAH)
14:40-15:30 -> Amsterdam (AMS) 08:05
I'm fine with other times or dates though.
* Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend

Nope, I checked and I believe that won't be any problem.

travel: ~$200

PHA afternoon evening Jan 31 -> OMA
or
PHX morning Feb 1 -> OMA
hotel: 4 (or 5) nights, standard conference/negotiated rate with roommate

Yes

I could probably afford ~$200 of my own pocket without risking too much
bodily harm from the wife.
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon?
I'll pitch a couple of talks (Packaging, and *something* KDE)
Lead a hackfest around Qt/KDE/Meego, while trying to invite an upstream
superstar or 2 to our humble event.
* If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such

let us know if you have specific time restrictions.
My first try came up with
$214
6:00am Jan 28 US Airways 86 OMA -> PHX
7:45pm Jan 31 US Airways 517 PHX -> OMA
second try using discounted AA got similar times, with connecting flights
through DFW, came in at $196
I'd prefer the first one, no connecting flight, and it leaves later 7:45pm
instead of AA's 5:30pm

Tell us the following:
* What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X,

Not sure - plane fare it looks like on Southwest is about $200 + fees when
booked on the web. AA doesn't seem to have any sort of evening flight out
to NYC on Monday. Any of EWR, JFK, or LGA would work. Hotel is whatever
the hotel ends up being, double occupancy :)

Of course :)
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as

Potential Board meeting as is traditional at FUDCon, as well as
Infrastructure hackfest around whatever has come up at that point, and
most importantly Infrastructure support for FUDCon Live. Also NA
Ambassador items as they come up.

No specific restrictions that I'm aware of at this point.

No requirements for a US citizen to travel in the US, I hope :). Dunno
about those crazy AZ folks though :)

There's a lot of reasons I'd like to go
* I'm working on a Web Events platform, called Timpus[1], and getting in
touch with other ambassadors and marketers would help make this tool as
useful as I possibly can make it.
* Regarding Timpus, some sort of a Hackfest would be welcome. I expect to
have an early demo of Timpus by the end of September btw.
* I'm also interested in packaging tutorials/conferences, as I don't
think I'm good enough a packager, though I manage 3-4 packages.
* To meet fellow Fedora Developers, as I (As well as DanielBruno and
Gomix) administer the ProyectoFedora.org infrastructure, and there's a lot

* Learn about organizing events, I'd like to do a FAD in Mexico.

I might also change the destination (e.g. LAX instead of PHX) and add some
