Purely for pricing purposes, the BUF to PHX for round trip is $351 on Southwest.com, and whatever the standard rate is for the FUDCon primary Hotel, I think nights would be 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st at 229.00/night, or $916 for hotel (maybe I'm missing a FUDCon promo reservation link though...?) I could discreetly room with Lmacken for much less than that though ;) * If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (No) * What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? I will be representing the work and efforts of the FOSS@RIT Campaign (http://foss.rit.edu) and providing storyteller coverage (Text, Interviews, Video, and some pics) for our university blog (http://innovation.rit.edu & http://foss.rit.edu/blog/decause) and possibly http://Opensource.com. I will also make the media available to mizmo again this year, for the use of Fedora Comm Arch and Marketing. Hopefully I can contribute some useful code written in a hackfest or two as well, and maybe wrangle some remote cycles from my student hackers to lend a hand too. I will be arranging for some specific dropoff/pickup times. BUT, for those who need to go back to the hotel at other times, local transport information would be nice, particularly for: * to/from brickyard * to/from MemU * to/from Marriott, where most hanging out and hackfests will likely occur The Orbit Mercury looks to be the best/only route that can get to those places. It runs every 10-15 minutes. http://www.valleymetro.org/schedules_and_maps/?route=217&sort= I would like to provide folks who are checking into the Sheraton with a sheet on where to pick up, what times the buses run, etc. Most of this is provided on a .pdf on the Valley Metro website on the route page, but needs to be marked with more specific location as to where the actual stops are (this is in more detail on the map on the webpage). ** getting on/off the bus for the hotel (@ lemon st.) ** Marking the hotel's whereabouts ** Where Brickyard is ** Where MemU is ** draw some lines to where the Marriott is (they'll have to walk a few minutes from Mill Ave.) It is a FREE route, but hours need to be known, they're on the 2nd page of the .pdf. What I recommend is just printing the PDF as is, drawing in some additional lines for roads that aren't part of the route but have key places on them (For example, Rural for the Sheraton, whatever road the Marriott is on, etc. This might be harder for MemU, might need brainstorming around that.) It might be helpful to also note physical addresses and sometimes phone numbers of things on that piece of paper - Hotel addresses (both) w/phone #'s, MemU, Brickyard addresses. This could probably just be typed in at the bottom. And then make like 30 or 40 double-sided copies (who knows, people from the Marriott may want to go over to the Sheraton). (Also: the valley metro site seems to have two maps - one regular, and one listed as 1/24/11 preview? Hackfest Meetings

Just took a look at all the things that I have to do this FUDCon and relized that my hackfest time is going to be largely meetings and largely filled up already. One that hasn't been pre-arranged but we really should have -- We're flying a lot of latam ambassadors in this time around so they can help see FUDCon NA and carry ideas from that back to the planning forFUDCon Panama. It would be great if we could get the FUDCon Tempe Organizers and the Latam Ambassadors together for a meeting at some point. Maybe if there's a wrap up session planned, having this be an additional hour at the same meeting would be good. or maybe having it at a different time will save the Tempe Organizers from burnout :-) Some things that would be good to over are: * Estimates of how much time was put into getting making FUDCon Tempe. * Information about how much manpower came from the local organizers vs how much was done remotely. * Tips and strategies for staying on schedule and on budget. * Question and answer about the actual events that were held (barcamp, hackfest, fudpub) and ideas and concerns about what logistics make them successful. Dennis Gilmore could also give an update on how planning for FUDCon Panama is currently going and any observations about what's needed to make sure that that event comes out as well as this one. Tempe - Rounding up hotel shuttle information.

I wanted to make sure that we had the appropriate information about shuttle transportation available to people so that they'd know what to do when they get to Tempe. I currently have the information for the hotel shuttle for the Sheraton - which is basically: * Call the hotel upon arrival (480-968-3451) for pickup at one of the "Hotel Shuttle" stops outside the airport terminals. * They will come get you. (Also, for departure, they just need to let the front desk know ahead of time what time they'd like to be at the airport. The Sheraton has also offered to shuttle the folks at the secondary hotel over to the conference spots, so I'll be nailing that down with them via email over the next few weeks as we have more of the main schedule finalized.) Paul or Jared - you folks have been the main contacts with the Marriott; is there any way we could get some details on the when/what to do for folks arriving and how to catch the shuttle? Ryan Rix is putting together a printable sheet for people to be able to take with them for when the arrive, in case they don't have interwebz access. We'll be putting this information on there, and I've also asked for an actual picture of the shuttle from the Sheraton to put on the sheet. If we could possibly get a shuttle shot from the Marriott, I think that would work out well. -Robyn
