Name badges

https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/174 Nushio had a great idea on this ticket, which is to place a scannable QR Code in our FUDCon name badges. I talked about this a bit with Ian Weller and he indicated he'd have some time to work on it tomorrow. Here's what I propose: I'll take the wiki pre-reg table and from that coax a CSV of: * Optional FAS username * Optional real name * Optional comment * Optional shirt size * Optional veg mark (V or VV) Ian will take that input, and work up a script that takes the CSV for input and produces beeyooteeful name badges with this information. Ian, a couple ideas I'll toss in your mental grinder that you can take or leave: * Make the shirt size and veg mark on the badge less prominent. In Toronto we made them smaller and grey in color, so they could be read easily at the registration desk to pass out goodies, without looking overly geeky or embarrassing anyone about their shirt size. * I've filled in a template for vCard content to comprise the QR Code in a comment on the ticket above. We don't want to provide much more than full name, email, and URL, because different devices, scanning software, etc. have varying levels of functionality. I figured, best to stick with the basics for maximum compatibility. * It would be awesome if somehow the design matched our booklets a little bit, but because we might print these to perforated Avery labels or something, a design that spills off the side might not work too well. I trust your imagination and skillz though! Jared will order badge supplies, and tell Ian what he ordered. Ian probably needs to know the size of these blanks for his script to do its magic as intended. Last year we used simple Avery perforated blanks along with pin-style holders -- the ones that are made out of flexible thin plastic that just folds over the top; the badge can go in that way or through either side. -- Paul W. FUDCon Map

Just a note, it looks like the FUDCon area map (Google map linked from the FUDCon page) needs updating -- it still shows Rula Bula as the FUDPub location, and doesn't show the secondary hotel. (I'd submit patches if I could, but Google maps isn't quite as friendly that way as the wiki). -Chris

Hi all First i have to apologise that ill have to miss the meeting today. it will be 4am where i am. I would like to see an update on getting the extra rooms. and updates on the tasks we set out at the last meeting. some other things to discuss are how to promote the barcamp style unconference and the hackfest day/s Making sure we get the best possible experience for all. Is it possible to get a computer lab that we can put fedora on and run some sessions? Thanks Dennis

Hey folks, Just a note that I'll be heading over to ASU campus today to get some signatures from the ASULUG faculty, related to our having alcohol at FUDPub, and drink donations. Hooray! One less thing to worry about. :) I'm also going to attempt to scope out some on-site logistical stuff (peek at rooms if they're open, etc.) If anyone has anything else they'd like me to scope out while I'm there, speak now, or forever hold your peace. (Or, um, ping me on IRC, since y'all know I just can't EVER sign off - I'll have my phone and check in to see if anything has come up. Just pipe up on #fudcon-planning.) Thanks! -Robyn
