Tell us the following:
* What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X,
travel $Y)
According to wiki page: Hotel Villages $80 USD (i can share room), Air
travel $700 (with possible discount if Taca is available).
* If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful?
(Yes/No)
No :(
* If Yes can you specify the minimum amount you would need covered to
facilitate your attendance
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as
possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)
{{{
* I want to promote the use of standard tools used by Fedora Documentation
Project in order to:
** get more contributors to Documentation and Localization Project;
** support the effort steered by Guillermo Gómez to recruit more writers
of formal documentation from Latin América;
** share the experience of learning on Docs Project, and how we can apply
that to our local communities
(i'm using Docbook/git & Projects management tools in a local outreach
effort);
** engage more writers to Fedora Latam Magazine, with the fun of workflows
learned in Documentation Project.
* I have promoted an initiative to let Fedora contributors share knowledge
between them and toward users of Fedora,
based in the idea of Fedora Classroom, but with a more expanded
experience through the use of Moodle.
ATM, moodle.proyectofedora.org is a Moodle instance to support this
idea, but no much advance has been done.
I want to meet with another contributors interested in this subproject
in order to advance the planning and
vision of this initiative.
}}}
* If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such
as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also
let us know if you have specific time restrictions.
I have not done any queries about specific flights at this moment.
* Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend
FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?
Panamá doesn't requieres Visa for Mexican citizens.
* Include any additional, relevant information.
This would be my first FUDCon, if no funding is available, i'd like to
support streaming or remote talks efforts.

Hi all,
The bid process for FUDCon EMEA was opened a while ago and so far there
are no bids for EMEA. During our ride home from FOSDEM Gerold and I
started to think and talk about the FUDCon EMEA 2011 and this bid. Now
we sorted your own thoughts and placed a bid for Dublin [1].
Actually this bid violates some rules/purposes of the FUDCon Bid process
[2]. That's the reason why the bid page is not complete at this point in
time. We do not want to spent to much time in evaluating things till we
all can agree/disagree that this unusual bid has a chance.
Why is Dublin suggested by two guys who live far away from Ireland you
may ask yourself? Because the Red Hat Partner Summit 2011 [3] will be at
Dublin. And we want to held the FUDCon right before Red Hat Partner
Summit. Gerold and I see some advantages if the Red Hat Partner Summit
and the FUDCon are close together.
So, FUDCon will be organized by Red Hat? Not at all, we think more of
cooperation to share resources/costs for those two important events in
the Red Hat/Fedora ecosystem in EMEA.
We would like to hear your thoughts and objections about this. Thanks in
advance.
Kind regards,
Fabian

Hi all,
Just a quick heads-up that we're preparing a bid for FUDCon NA 2012
here at Olin College in Needham, MA (with proximity to Boston). This
is a first draft - which is why I didn't say "bid" in the subject line
- and we're still poking things on all sides, so don't expect anything
perfect at this point in time. Feedback and
filling-in-of-gaps-on-wiki-page are very much welcome, though:

Just curious what cities will be submitting proposals, ive not yet heard of
any. and march 15 is getting really close now.

Hi everyone,
Part of the small role that I play in the larger and global FUDCon and
FAD planning process is to make sure that we have sufficient budget for
FUDCons and FADs, and to make sure that budget is well-allocated.
We've just finished up one fiscal year (from Red Hat's point of view)
and we're getting started on another. It's worth taking a moment for us
to look at how much money we spent on FUDCons last year, and what our
plans are for the coming year.
* $33,300 -- FUDCon Tempe 2011
* $25,465 -- FUDCon Santiago 2010
* $22,020 -- FUDCon Zurich 2010
* $1,605 -- FUDCon Panama 2011
That's about $82k spent for FUDCons.
* $5,340 -- Fedora Ambassador Day North America 2010
* $1,645 -- FAD EMEA 2010
* $1,530 -- Marketing FAD 2010
* $1,300 -- FAD Pune 2010
* $460 -- Etherpad FAD
* $315 -- FAD FOSDEM 2011
That's about $10k spent on FADs.
All data from https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Accounting
===
This coming fiscal year (March 2011 - February 2012), we have $90k set
aside for FUDCons and FADs.
The key difference is that it is our goal to hold *four* FUDCons and not
*three* in the coming fiscal year: Panama, EMEA, NA, India.
In order to still set aside about $10k for FADs, that means we need to
be pretty good about planning all of our FUDCons to fit into a total
budget of $80K USD.
In order for that to work, we need to be fair with the distribution of
the budget, and also take into account the strength of the dollar in
different regions of the world.
As a general rule of thumb, I'm thinking that FUDCon organizers should
consider this breakdown:
NA -- $25k USD or lower
EMEA -- depends on the location of FUDCon. In the Euro area, $25k or
lower. Outside of the Euro area, hopefully we could do a FUDCon for
$20k or lower.
Panama -- $15k USD - $20k USD, hopefully a bit closer to $15k. Is there
an easy place where we can currently see the budget plans for this
FUDCon?
India -- same as Panama.
Thoughts and comments?
Thanks,
Max
