Hi Somvannda,
It was closed for final decision on subsidy applications, but due to the
budget change, the final decision has not been made. So I think you can
still request travel support on fudcon-planning trac, and we will
consider. However, since the budget is quite tight, there is no
guarantee of full or partial approval.
Besides, if you can make it without the subsidy and require the
invitation letter to apply visa, please contact us directly. We'd like
to see more Fedora ambassadors in FUDCon.

#460: Funding request for Suchakrapani Datt Sharma (suchakra)
----------------------------------+-------------------
Reporter: suchakra | Owner: cicku
Type: Funding request | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone:
Component: FUDCon Beijing 2014 | Keywords:
Blocked By: | Blocking:
----------------------------------+-------------------
Tell us the following:
What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X,
travel $Y.)
Travel and hotel
Travel: Depart May 20. Return May 25 - Costs range from approx USD $1230
onwards for an AirCanada flight of manageable duration (~20 hours). Other
carriers are either too expensive or too long (30 hours+ journey time).
Hotel: I can share a room with Ankur Sinha till 25th. However I will
check-in on 21st. I am not exactly sure about the costs. A cheap one would
do just fine.
So total may be something like $1300 + approx. $200 = $1500 USD
If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful?
(Yes/No??)
Yes.
If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your
attendance.
I can manage around $200 + local travel + some food by myself.
What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as
possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)
I shall be giving a talk titled "Kernel and Userspace Tracing with
LTTng, GDB and friends" where I will discuss various tracing tools and
their possible use for Fedora developers. The second hackfest is about
Fedora Design and Packaging 101 which may be merged with Ankur Sinha's ROS
packaging session. If we have a separate Fedora booth in Gnome.asia, I can
man the booth for a few hours too.
If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as
flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also
let us know if you have specific time restrictions.
Please refer attached PDF.
Restrictions : I have to depart Beijing by 25th and '''reach Montreal on
26th May positively.''' Its the ultimate constraint for my trip.
Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend
FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?
Yes. It seems I need a F visa. Refer [1]. I do not know how long it takes
in Montreal. I know for sure that the 3-5 days fast visa policy is not
applicable to foreign nationals in Canada. So it may take some weeks.
Include any additional, relevant information.
A visa support letter on RH letterhead with a valid signature (the same
way we had for FUDCon Pune) may be good for easier visa processing. I
shall update more details as I find them.
